Not the Vans I grew up in....
I bought a pair of old schools and the heel peeled within a couple wears. I grew up skating and wore vans until the soles fell off. Either these were a fluke or the quality has changed alot. I love Vans and have worn them for 20 years but now I have a newish pair that are unwearable from going to grocery store a couple times. MY old faithfuls survived skating 7 days a week, parties, lakes, track bikes, construction.....you get the point. Based on my experience I doubt many guys are skating Vans...but maybe it was a fluke as I said. I dig Vans and support what the company represented in the past but cmon guys....
basic
I'm basic, I'll be the first to admit it. I swore to myself I would never buy these shoes 'cause I couldn't keep on being basic or else I'd turn into a basic beach. Even though I swore to myself I wouldn't buy these shoes I did anyways. I originally wanted some other vans [ forgot what they were called ] but my mom told me those looked "cheap and ugly". She eventually persuaded me get the old skool vans since they looked "nicer". I have since then officialy became a basic beach. I know I know I hate myself too though I have to admit they're comfortable and match with most of my outfits.
Nice shoe
This is my first pair of Vans and I absolutely love the style and look of the shoes. They are just so classic and go with everything. The shoes are really high quality and I really like the materials used. The insoles are a little thin and you can feel everything under your feet but that's not too much of a deal breaker for me. The padded ankle collar is a really nice touch and it gives nice cushion when walking for longer periods. The lace up enclosure gives a nice snug fit albeit it does take some work to put the shoes on. The toe box is also a little narrow but as I break them in it is slowly stretching out. Overall I do recommend the shoes and I'll definitely be getting another pair in the future.
Highly recommend - Yes, will buy again...
Second time around purchasing shoes. 5 yrs & 8 yrs old active boys wear shoes indoors and outdoors. Shoes are used daily for walking, riding bikes and/or playing on playground. 8 yrs old has a slightly wider foot & this model doesn't bother him while shoes "stretch" to his feet. For 5 yrs old we replaced laces with elastic no tie and shoes are now like slip on which is awesome for pre-school and this year kindergarten. Love the look whether casual, styling and/or at a more formal occasion. Second time around buying this exact model. Needed bigger sizes. Highly recommend!
Genuinely Surprised
So I have never owned a pair of Vans before. At one point I didn't really like them for some odd reason but this past year I had actually really started to understand the hype. This past week I decided to pick up my first pair and I am genuinely surprised. I expected the insole to feel like cement looking at the photos but it actually has more support than my old shoes. The upper is really good quality and it feels like they will last me a long time. They do squeak a bit as I walk but I expect that to go away after time. I also heard that they run small but I actually had to go down a full size which was surprising. The only downside I notice is that they are a bit hard to put on and take off, but I'd assume that's for added support.
Classic never goes out of style!
I love the classic design! I've been wearing vans for over 5 years and always wanted an all black pair. They're so comfortable and stylish- I'm never dissapointed. The only bad thing I can say about the pair I ordered is that it showed a white line right above the eyelets, which was part of the inside lining. It kinda bothered me cause I wanted them to look completely black so I had to use a black marker to cover those white lines (as shown in the picture - one of them is already covered, the other one isn't). Other than that they are perfect < 3
Very Disappointed
I have been wearing Vans shoes since I was a kid which is over 40 years and the quality in there shoes seems to continue to decline each year. These shoes have had very minimal use as you can tell through the photos. The top portion of the shoe where the foot inserts is completely breaking down and the black canvas is already peeling off. I am very disappointed in my purchase and definitely did not expect these to last for such a short period. The bottom of the rubber sole has not even begun to wear and the shoe is already falling apart.
Not sure about these
I absolutely love the style of these shoes. I have the white pair & decided to also get the black pair. The white ones were so nice & i had no issue with them! I tried these on and they were ok at first. I went on about my day & half way through my day, the back of my heel was starting to hurt. An hour went by & i could barely walk! I was limping because the shoe was hurting my heel so bad! I didn't wear these shoes for a couple of days & decided to try wearing them again since i thought they just needed to be broken in. However the SAME thing happened again! I could barely walk. I really love the style & color but im not sure if i can wear them again. :(
pretty cool
I just a bought a pair online and they're pretty dope. I guess I just bought a wrong pair. I was looking for a classic old skool and I found this. I am not familiar with it at first so I didn't had an idea that there's a canvas and canvas/suede version of it and I unconsciously chose the canvas one. I prefer the with suede one cuz its more durable and more classic IMO but this isn't bad at all. I would recommend this for casual uses but never on skating purposes. I got a pretty much praises wearing it. kinda sick (mixed review) lol
These do not fit true to size!
I have worn vans basically my entire life.. And I have also been a size 8 most of my life. I ordered these vans in size 8, and they happen to be too large...which is impossible. I have always ordered vans in an 8 and they have been perfect....but the one time I try the old school style and they fit too big? I wore them I evening and they rubbed so horribly on my pinky toes and gave me the most savage blisters! I'm a college kid with hardly any funds and the only reason I caved to buy new shoes was because my old pairs were legit falling into pieces. I cant afford to just buy another pair! This is the first time in my entire life I have been upset with vans :(
