Excellent binoculars

I’m pretty picky when it comes to adventure gear, and I was torn between the Nocs Field Issue 10x32 and the 10x42. I wanted something light, but even knowing the 10x42 would be a bit heavier, I’m really glad I chose it. They feel incredibly well built and look great. Nocs really nailed the design. These binoculars feel like they are made for adventure. I’m not afraid to climb a tree with them or take them out kayaking at sea. The colors look incredible during sunset. They also come with built in eye covers which is convenient. They live in my bicycle bag, and I’m stoked to bring them along for future adventures.

Not for me

These Nocs Provisions 10x42 binoculars are larger and heavier than I expected. I realize the size and weight is in the specs, so I could have been more diligent about that. The lense covers are clunky flopping down since they do not detach. The clincher for my lower rating is the focus and clarity. I am primarily using binoculars to see birds. These do not focus quickly when changing the distances I'm viewing. Worse, I am getting some distortion ("color fringing"), in other words, not a clear and bright image. I am going to trade them in for a compact 8x25 pair for a wider field of vision and lighter weight. I would like 8x32 or 8x42, but this increases weight to a pound or more. I like to hold my binoculars in my hand at the ready, so the light weight is necessary for treks. I love my NOCS 8x32 tube, but homing in quickly on birds is easier with binoculars.
