Awesome Spikes! Perfect for icy trails.

Got a pair of these recently and I’m throughly impressed. Excellent traction and fits well on my Columbia hiking boots. Perfect for icy trails and straight up ice. The Velcro strap is a godsend and helps secure the crampon to the shoe. Would recommend anyone with a size 10.5 to get the medium size. Overall I would definitely recommend this.

Well Made and Sturdy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The crampons have not been yet used but I am ready for winter. They are easy to put on and are well made with the shoe strap to make sure they don’t fall off. These were bought to replace a cheaper pair of no name crampons that always fell off when shoveling snow or hiking.

Buy them for their strap across the top!

I bought and used the HS Trail Crampon Ultras for early-July now patches found on Oregon's Pacific Crest Trail. The consolidated, tall and steep-sided snow patches spoke any fall down the side as 'disastrous', given their short run-out to boulders and trees below. The Trail Crampon Ultra's fit was perfect, stayed in place and I really appreciate the strap across the top, should I happen to wear them some day during postholing.

VERY SOLID PRODUCT

Being as this is my first crampon I have nothing to compare to. However, this product has never failed me. I recently ran a 32 miler through the snowdrifts, ice, and even some mud and these bad boys didn't disappoint. My only complaint would be that the toe bar tends to slip back from the front of my toe and ride more on the top of my shoe's toe box. This causes the underside chains to slop around a bit. I think a tighter crampon would likely remedy this problem. Other than that, these are great. I was running pretty well in them and did not notice any issues. Extremely light weight so I barely noticed they were there.

EXCELLENT PRODUCT

The Trail Crampon Ultras have been excellent while ascending and, more importantly, descending the steep mountain trails where I live. I blew apart a different company's "microspikes" in just one outing - literally spikes that weren't torn from the plates were bent over. The Ultras, though, show little wear even though I've gone up the same trail (Unnecessary Mountain). They go on easily and have stayed secure without sliding around on my trail running shoes. I'm online now to see if they have them in small sizes for my 10 year-old who sometimes accompanies me. Obviously, I highly recommend these.

High quality product

Bought these last year and am eager to use them again this year. The traction was great for trails in the mountains during winter and for jogs around the neighbourhood while there was still ice on the ground. Fit on all my shoes comfortably and never fell off.

Deception

Keep your receipt. I unfortunately threw mine away, and the rubber part broke on first use. I do not recommend this product.

Must have for winter trail running

I had a different brand's competing product and it slid around on my foot (especially with side-hilling and descents) and crushed my toe box. Hillsound's on the other hand stay secure and don't intrude on toes. I recently did a trail run where at least one person was carried out due to slipping on the ice - until I saw somebody fall down in front of me I had no idea it was slick. I can confidently blast up and down elevation changes without fear of losing traction. I also haven't had issues with them getting unexpectedly stuck in softer ground.
