Excellent jacket I love it
Took large and I'm 5'10" 185lbs and the fit is excellent. Not too large not too tight. It is warm enough to do aérobic activities but may lack in warmth for someone who doesnt mobe that much like in urban envrionnement.
Sizing is a little different than the vest
I have the KOR vest in a medium and I've used it on multi-day backpacking trips. It is awesome. Super light, breathes well and dries out fast. Great pockets. Super packable. I just purchased a M Hoody ... and immediately returned it bc it was too tight across the chest - especially where the sleeves meet the body of the jacket. At 5'9" and 175-180 I am upsizing to a Large. I'm not fat and not super athletic. The only way a M could work is if I starved myself and went commando under the top. Since the Hoody has a draw string at the waist, I hope to be able to control the length as needed. The vest does NOT have a draw string at the waist. Vest: M. Hoody: L.
Two chest pockets are nice.
Bought this two years ago and love it! Very comfortable, warm, flexible and able to wear for a variety of activities. Breaths well and can be used as a midlayer on the very cold days
Collar Makes the Jacket Hard to Wear
I really wanted to like this jacket, but I can’t get past the collar. I usually wear my jackets zipped up, and the collar keeps digging into my neck and under my chin. It’s especially annoying when I’m driving or walking. When I turn my head, it catches and stays on one side of my chin every time. The jacket is warm and breathable, which is great, so I keep trying to push through the discomfort to make it work. I have the regular Kor Airshell from 2023 or 2024 and love it, so I’m pretty disappointed this one doesn’t feel the same. I do like the sleeve length and waist length, and I’m a big Mountain Hardwear fan, just not with this jacket. Maybe an XL would’ve been better. For reference, I’m 6'1", 190 lbs with an athletic build.
So good!
I bought this as a replacement for my very “well-loved” OR Ascendant, and I love this jacket even more. It’s the only jacket by a mainstream US brand that has an Alpha or Octa (Airmesh) lining and a full-body wind shell material instead of a stupid grid fleece hybrid design. I haven’t had it long, but it seems super versatile. I’ve stayed relatively comfortable on a long, leisurely, windy walk at about 0°C/32°F down the beach and a short trail run while it was dumping wet snow (great DWR treatment by the way). I’m very optimistic that this will be a great ski touring layer. Also, the quality and attention to detail in this jacket are unbelievable! At first I didn’t like the mesh backer side of the Airmesh facing toward me (except the shoulder blade area), but then I realized how well things layer under it and how much better it would work with a mesh/fishnet type of baselayer. Well played MH. Add to that the hidden pocket zippers, two-way front zip, hood adjustment, and best of all, the magical bottom hem adjustment INSIDE the hand pockets and it’s absolutely the best bag for your buck in a light, weather-resistant, active insulator out there. If I had any ideas to make this jacket even better, it would be to make the hood slightly larger, add a face opening adjustment on the hood, and maybe a snap at the bottom hem and another at the neck to keep the hood secure if you want the jacket open for venting. It’s already pretty good in this regard if you open both chest pockets and the bottom of the main zip up to around your belly button, but if you want your upper chest cooler or need to keep things in the chest pockets at least a neckline snap would be great. Finally, a Medium fits me best at 6’ and 170 lbs. It’s a tiny bit snug in the shoulders but only in a couple specific positions. I can still use a light layer under it. A Large was significantly bigger and a bit baggy.
Great hoodie
Great hoodie. Had the previous version and liked it so much I bought this version. The issue though is the zipper, it isn’t as reliable as the previous version. In the photos it’s shown as black, but in the version I got it’s silver color, possibly that’s the difference as it doesn’t have the coating so it’s fractionally a different size and now the zipper doesn’t align correctly. Hope they fix it, as otherwise this is a near perfect jacket. Just not as reliable as the previous version.
Surprisingly Warm Hoody
I have been pleasantly surprised with this hoody. It has great features, pocket options, fit adjustment sinches, and overall comfort. Jacket has performed to -5 C to +5 C in Canada. The inner mesh holds your temperature more than I expected and allows stabilizes your body temperature in combination with the Pertex shell. The only drawback in the Pertex stains easy but that's the trade-off for the material performance. I am fully satisfied with this purchase.
Warm and Windproof But Breathable
I’ve worn this AirShell out in some windy cold rain / sleet and it performs great. The AirShell cuts the wind and beads water off during rain exposure for a good amount of time. The outer material isn’t super rugged, I wouldn’t wear this during outdoor working activities, it would likely snag or tear pretty easy. But as far as a wind blocking, water resistant, warm, and super breathable “hoody” type soft jacket, it is awesome!
Great fit and feel, not super durable
I really want to like this jacket more. It’s extremely lightweight and shockingly warm. Not really packable in the sense I was looking but I’m totally ok with that. What bothers me is how quickly the cuffs on the sleeves began to fray. Literally after 3 wears it was already fraying. I’ll probably take it somewhere and have new cuffs put on because I like the coat so much otherwise.
4.5 stars! Great lightweight hoody
Great light to medium weight jacket. Good for temps between 35-55 degrees f. It's really close to 5 stars. The part missing for me is a way to stuff it into it's own pocket. I have the very light weight Kor Airshell that does. Was really hoping this one would too. For backpacking, Mtn Biking and general camping use.
