Really like
The 24-year-old new gamma mx is more fit in design. The L size of 180/155 kg makes the upper body fit and comfortable. Compared with the L size of gamma hoody, this length is more suitable. Similarly, the length of L size gamma hoody is two fingers longer than this. The two versions are different. The gamma hoody fabric on the fabric will be more wear-resistant. The existing fabric of gamma mx is soft and breathable, and the gamma hoody version is more outdoor. The upper body feels light and breathable, and it is not so thick to the touch, but you can feel the rapid increase in temperature behind you.
A very nice jacket.
I’ve been living in the Gamma MX Hoody since October, and it’s the first jacket I reach for whether I’m heading to the local crag or just grabbing groceries in sideways sleet. The Wee Burly Double Weave doesn’t look techy—more like a beefy work shirt—but it shrugs off wet snow and chalk dust with the same indifference. I was skeptical about the lack of a membrane, yet the thing somehow blocks wind while still dumping heat when I’m thrutching up a greasy off-width. Fit is trim enough that my harness doesn’t ride up, and the StormHood swallows a helmet without turning me into a bobblehead. Only nitpick: the chest pocket zipper is a hair too stiff for one-handed use with gloves, but after three months of daily abuse it’s finally easing up. Worth every penny; I’ll be buried in this thing.
Stylish, Cozy & Worth It
This coat is my new favorite. Its tailored design and neutral shade pair effortlessly with any outfit, while the thick fabric keeps me warm in cold, windy weather. The soft lining feels great, and the sturdy zippers/pockets add practicality. It works for work, hikes, or dinners—no bulk, so layering over sweaters is easy. Minor con: it’s a bit heavy, but that’s a small price for the warmth.
Arc'teryx Gamma MX
The Gamma MX Jacket strikes a perfect balance between insulation and breathability. Made from a softshell fabric, it provides ample warmth without sacrificing mobility. I appreciate how it blocks wind effectively, making it a reliable option on chilly days. Whether I was ascending a steep trail or setting up camp in the evening, this jacket allowed for freedom of movement while still keeping me warm.
Versatile Softshell That Performs in the Wild and
As an avid hiker and weekend climber, I’ve been wearing the Gamma MX Hoody for the past few months through unpredictable weather in the Pacific Northwest—and it’s quickly become my go-to outer layer. The Fortius™ 2.0 fabric hits the sweet spot: it’s breathable enough for uphill grinds but provides just the right amount of wind resistance and warmth for summit breaks. The stretch is fantastic, especially for scrambling or setting gear—no restriction at all. I’ve even worn it casually in the city on colder days and got compliments for the minimalist design and slim fit. Pockets are well-placed (I can access them with a harness), and the helmet-compatible hood is a huge plus. It's also surprisingly water-resistant for a softshell—I stayed dry in light drizzle without reaching for my shell. If you’re looking for one jacket that bridges alpine performance with everyday functionality, this is it. Arc'teryx nailed it again.
popular
I'm 5'11, 169 lbs and my size M is slim and comfortable. It's so skin-friendly and doesn't stick to my body. It keeps me warm in spring and autumn and early winter. I love it.It's easy to wear everyday.
i love this black gamma hoody
gamma mx hoody is really comfortable when i wear it in autumn and spring,i love this hoody!
Best Softshell Jacket!
No wonder it’s hailed as Arc’teryx’s softshell king! Snagged it on sale and what a steal—it’s totally worth every penny. The size L fits me perfectly, not too tight or loose. The Dynasty color is such a standout too—bright enough to catch eyes but never tacky. Most importantly, it’s insanely comfortable to wear, whether I’m out hiking or just running errands. From the fabric feel to the fit, everything clicks. Hands down a solid purchase, highly recommend!
A bit small fit
These clothes run a bit small. Normally, I wear a size S in Arc'teryx, but this S is a bit snug. I can't layer thicker clothes underneath, and getting it off is kind of a hassle.
great shopping experience
If you only choose one submachine jacket in your lifetime, then you must choose the Arcteryx! Gamma Mx is weakening its outdoor image and emphasizing more on daily style in both color matching and design. If you want a warm soft shell with good breathability, this is your best choice.by the way,Rei's online customer service are very nice, it was a great shopping experience.
