Save your thumbs and retain your sanity. This Park Tool tire bead breaker quickly and easily unseats virtually any bicycle tire bead. It works particularly well on tight-fitting tubeless systems.
- The locking jaws of the BMT-1 are tightened against the sidewalls using the large adjustment knob, firmly squeezing the tire body
- Once the long, strong handle is pulled laterally in either direction, the bead is pulled away from the bead seat and toward the center channel
- This allows for removal using a tire lever or other method
- Nonmarring jaw covers protect the rim and tire from damage
- Compatible with tire bodies from 23 mm to 78 mm (0.91 in. to 3 in.)

Works well, but big and heavy.
BMT-1 works well to break the bead from the rim without scratching (or worse). Before I purchased the BMT1, I kluged a similar tool that was quite tricky to use. BMT1 is heavy (shipping label says 2 LBS) and physically large. Probably not going to want to haul around on every ride. Related opinion: Tubeless tires are a giant pain and should be avoided. In my case, I purchased a bike with tubeless-ready rims&tires but with tubes(absolutely worst combination ever). I didn't know what that meant until I got my first flat. In addition, the tires assimilate small pebbles - lots of slow-leak flats. Very frustrating.
