My original Leki Makalu poles weighed a total of about 12 ounces. I had had them since 2010. They were great, and were repaired by Leki at no cost once. Unfortunately in 4/25 I snapped one of them while hiking on the PCT when I tripped on a very small stone and fell over the side of the trail. Upon coming home I looked for another pair of Lekis and settled on this one. I recently took them backpacking in the Tetons. It's much easier to adjust the length, especially when adjusting the height of my tent. They have not slipped, as the locks that hold the poles to a desired length just don't slip. Since each pole comes in 3 pieces, it's much easier to pack in my luggage. There is a slight learning curve when deploying them from their folded state. The biggest concern is: when you push the parts together, be sure your hand won't be pinched by the parts: you assemble the pieces (they connect with each other by an internal cord). Then you kind of pull the 2nd and 3rd (top two pieces) apart and that activates a spring that pulls all pieces together and locks the 3 segments in place. If any skin is near where two pieces slide together, it gets caught. Yikes that hurt.
