Smartwool Boxer briefs run small.
I ordered and received a Large size but just comparing it to my other underwear it's way too small. Perhaps it's a L in children's size. Disappointing as I was hoping to wear it, especially during the winter. Thus, runs small. And there's no bigger choice than Large.
Runs small and not comfortable
These briefs seem defective and are really disappointing. These seem smaller than the size I ordered (as another reviewer noted) and there's basically no pouch space in front so quite uncomfortable to wear. Almost as if they didn't make it for men. This was my first such purchase from Smartwool. Never again.
Sizing is for children
Way too small. The size guide is wrong. The guide indicated that a sized small should fit me since I have a 30” waist. I didn’t even bother trying them on. I then ordered the medium and it was the same situation. There was no way they would fit. I held them to my waist and stretched them around my hips and they would not even reach halfway around.
Basically compression shorts
As other reviewers mentioned, these guys are ungodly small with precious little room in the crotch. As a cyclist I’m pretty used to the compression fit so can make them work but if you want normal fitting johns, size up at least once. Material is great, fit is just a little snug (good if that’s what you want tho).
leg holes way too small if you have quads
So soft and warm, but dear God, they are tight around the quads. I’m a 38/36 waist and large fits waist fine, but returning because leg holes are just way too tight. And no other size options available for exchange.
Cut Extremely Small
The fabric of these boxer briefs is nice, but the are cut way too small. I wear a large in all brands of underwear, but these wee like stretching a banana peel over a football.
Don’t buy these, get the Saxx instead.
I have several pairs of Smartwool boxer briefs that I purchased 7-10 years ago, and they are starting to show their ago, so I bought 5 pairs of these. These are nothing like the old style, and I do not recommend them. I bought size Medium because that it what I have been wearing for the last 40 years. I am 5’11” and weigh 165 pounds with a 32” waist, and these are too tight and they bind like compression shorts.
terrible fit
Bad fit. Leg elastic is too tight, waist elastic is too loose. As a result, they work their way down the butt as you walk. Other brands of boxers fit me just fine, so I don't think I have strangely-shaped legs or hips.
Fit like compression shorts
Very good quality. Tight fitting. The fit is like compression shorts. Not like cotton underwear. Upsize if possible
Better briefs available
Returned briefs as they were very tight. Much prefer the REI Merino briefs for their fabric and fit.
