Minimal Merino = No ordor control
I'm happy to pay extra for Merino wool products due to its excellent temperature control, moisture control, and odor control properties. I have two pairs of these shorts. While they fit well, they fail in the odor control category. There is a thin and small (20 cm / 1 inch) strip of merino wool on the inside waist band. The rest of the short is made from artificial fabrics. While the waist band doesn't smell after a run in these, the rest of the shorts stink! I'm not satisfied with this product due to this as I could spend half as much on other brand products made from artificial fabrics. I come to Smartwool for the wool. This product falls short.
These Are Active Shorts, Don't Let The Description Fool You
Seem like they would be great for playing basketball in the park, lounging on the sofa, or working out at the gym. The previous shorts (which they use the exact same product description for) were more like business khaki shorts with a secret sport mode. They looked business casual and you could use them for a date night or travel. These active shorts are not it. They're thinner, athletic, the waistband belongs in a gym not a restaurant. Seem like OK shorts, but I was hoping for something different (and the description threw me off)
They have very little wool in them
The marketing is misleading. Talking about the benefits of wool and yet the vast majority of the material is the same plastics that every other short has. I found the same thing with Bamboo Ave. I guess polyester gives what most people want from workout clothes but Smartwool should make this clear in the marketing.
I would buy this product again.
I use these shorts for running. They are extremely comfortable. I purchased the liner less and use compression shorts. I can't wait to try the lined shorts.

The shorts are super comfortable and stylish. They feel light and airy, while having solid range of movement. Great for hanging around or exercising.
I prefer 7"" shorts
I prefer 7"" inseam on shorts and for women it is hard to find that length. So far I like these shorts.
