LIKE it, but only one small addition to LOVE it. . .
Ordered this as a new work bag. Carries a LOT! Chose it over all the other bags because it has a pouch for a hydration "bladder" and hole for the hose. LIKE all of that. . . Why don't I LOVE it? There isn't anything on the shoulder strap to HOLD the hydration bladder hose! The hose flails around my face as I walk while wearing the bag. I can somewhat "contain" the hose using a G-MOD Pouch on the shoulder strap. But it's an unnecessary "hack" that still doesn't always work - especially when the mouthpiece inevitably works its way loose. . . Was there a hydration bladder hose "holder" in the packaging that I missed? Are these bags supposed to have a "holder" on the shoulder strap that's somehow missing on mine? For now, I store all of the hose INSIDE the bag and keep the mouthpiece barely peeking out of the hole at the top. Unusable while walking, but at least it doesn't flop around in my face. I can still drink from the hydration bladder hose when the bag is on a desk by pulling the hose through the hole. And then stuffing it all back in when I'm done and read to walk again. . . I'm the kind of person who does NOT want to modify my bags or use ANY 3rd-party accessories to "make it work". Shouldn't be necessary. . . I recently ordered a bag from a competing company. Will try it all next week and see how that goes. I do like Grayl products but a small oversight on this one with an absent hydration bladder hose holder. (Wonder if anyone actually field-tested this bag while using a hydration bladder?!)
Wanted to like it
Smaller than expected, but fits what I need. Quality is severely lacking. Strap ripped after less than a week of use
Transport EXP Sling Daypack - 18L
Perfect!! Everything you need for EDC sling!. Pockets everywhere, no bulk, bladder compatible, bottle pockets(big enough for Nalgene)switchable strap for Left or Right. The only thing I’d change is to make the connector strap on the shoulder piece and cross belt wider. (3” wide shoulder strap with 1” connector and 1/2” belt doesn’t allow for heavy components like holster or sheath)
Excellent day pack
Pockets and compartments are well laid out for this type of pack. I would like to see more organization in the main compartment. The 18L model I bought is just big enough to hold rain gear and stuff for two people. The material and construction are good to great. I would recommend this pack and I will probably buy some for gifts for family and friends.
IMO: The perfect bag
I love sling bags a lot, but one challenge they have is that they can put the weight of the bag onto a single shoulder and that makes it tough to take on hikes or whatever. This bag does a great job of addressing this problem. It’s not perfect, but the stiff, built-in frame makes a fully loaded pack feel great. The side pockets are a bit strange in size for me. I think they’re for long tools, like an axe or folding wood saw. But they’re a bit small for my personal taste. Your mileage may vary. The bottom bottle straps do a good job of holding the Grayl filter bottle, I thought it wouldn’t work well or it would fall out, but it doesn’t. I do stow it in a way that the slightly tilted nature of the bag supports it too, just in case. It holds a surprising amount but you aren’t gonna get more than a day bag out of it, which is what it says it does. You want a bag that you can pack, then grab and just go into the woods or on a hike or something to get into the wilderness, this bag is perfect.
Not great
Why is this sling so incredibly long! I wear a sling pack when I go to New York City and as with most sling packs I wear it in the front which is their purpose. This pack is designed to wear on the back and even thrn it is longer than any back pack I have. I am not happy with it.
Great pack
Recently purchased for a six day trip through Scotland. Streamline enough to not feel bulky and plenty of room to keep all the extras I needed day-to-day. Craftsmanship is top notch and have zero complaints. Would definitely use for hiking and day-packing.
Fantastic bag!
So much storage! The Mole add in is essential and the medium gpack module on the strap is perfect for keys. Well designed, tough as nails, been carrying it everyday and I love it! Would definitely pack it out for a hike or short backpacking trip as well!
Great Bag
Bought six of these as Christmas presents! It is the perfect EDC bag. Jut big enough for the essentials and has a ton of pockets for a smaller size bag. Fits my 13-inch iPad Pro and remarkable tablet perfectly.
