I received this pair as a gifted product, but this is actually my fourth pair of Salewa shoes—I already knew what to expect. :) Right out of the box, the Pedroc 2 Max’s feel top quality. You can tell they were built to last. My previous pair of Salewas lasted me several years, and I have no doubt these will, too. Right out of the box, there was no real break-in time needed. That’s consistent with every Salewa shoe I’ve ever owned. I can throw them on and head straight to the trail. The cushioning is noticeable (in a good way) without feeling bulky, and the grip is next-level, esp on rock. They’re also super lightweight and breathable, which makes a big difference on my longer trail days. The Pedroc 2 Max’s are a great option if you want something cushioned, lightweight, and ready to go right away.
Great hiking shoe. Hiked in wet conditions in the Cherokee National forest for about 15 miles when new. They gripped well.i didn’t have any slipper falls at all. No foot pain. Felt stable similar to a Solomon. Not a soft cushy shoe but a little firmer not as hard as keen’s I’ve owne. I’d say softer than my Oboz but slightly firmer than my old Solomon ultra 3’s. Only issue I noticed is when tightening them down using double lace holes at the top I had a little rubbing at the opening on the ankle area. If I loosed up or removed the top lace from the top hole it was fine. I’d try Salewa again.
This could have been a great shoe for me, but the e heel collar pushes in against my lower Achilles, and rubs pretty badly. Not sure why it is designed this way. If the heel collar was not inwardly slanted, or if it was more softly padded, I would love this shoe. But it irritated my heel so I returned it. Maybe they will redesign it.
This Salewa has a different last than other approach and hiking shoes from Salewa. It is much wider and higher volume. If you are used to the glove line fit of other Salewa’s, this is not it.
Perfect shoes for hiking, trekking, enough room for toes, they fit well. In my opinion a bit clumsy for trail or speed hiking.
