Ripped after 5 days of hiking

After 5 days and 50 or so miles these shoes ripped. I bought direct from Topo and due to my vacation & order date I missed the return window. Top doesn’t stand behind the product; they suggested taping these shoes. Do yourself a favor and don’t worry about taping shoes that are 5 days old and about $150. But a different brand.

wider in arch/midfoot true to guide size

foot length 10.8" on longest foot, about 3.75" across toes meets foot bendy part of foot. so just a tad wider toe box needed for me. altra and topo seem logical choices. guide recommended 9.5, I bought a 10 to allow for swelling. i think after swelling the 9.5 might have been short, not sure if arch width would've been narrower. 10 arch fit my arch perfectly. the pursuit upper is basically see-through mesh and bright construction orange. normally run daily, varying from 2 miles to 4. easy terrain to rocky climbs. been wearing speedgots, and olympus. and thought I'd try these as the goats squish my toes even at a 1/2 size up, and the goats are way too wide in arch lacing area. I've pretty much laced that area together, and I've added on top of manufacturers insole my own prescription insert. so yeah, goats have too much fabric, hence the TOPO purchase. these pursuits actually felt excellent cushion, great feel of terrain, BUT too wide in arch lace area same as goats. I decided to return to REI bc TOPO has built-in arch, and my inserts didn't work with these. maybe if I try women's 11 or 11.5, it might be narrower. women's is B width. men's are D width. lol, women in that size are always buying men's, so why not, lol.
