La Sportiva  Granite 22 Pack

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We used the La Sportiva Granite 22 to trek fishing gear down the jetty and were impressed by how much it held for such a lightweight pack. It’s comfortable and perfect for quick, fast-moving trips down the rocks. We loved the top wrap cinch for carrying our cast net, the external through pockets for easy-access pliers, and the carabiner/loop for extra fishing line. It held a surprising amount of tackle for its size, and the water resistance was especially helpful when bigger waves crashed over the rocks. My only wish was for an insulated or external pocket for snacks and drinks. I understand it’s primarily a climbing pack, so that may not fit for that specific scenario. For longer fishing trips with more gear and supplies, I’d go with a larger size. Overall, it’s a great lightweight pack for quick jetty trips.

It's lightweight, tough, and very versatile. It holds everything I need for a day on the trail for me, my husband, and our two pups: water, snacks, treats, collapsible bowls, and an extra layer. I love the side zipper because I can grab things without unpacking the whole bag. The back panel and straps stay comfortable on long climbs, and the fabric handles rocky desert trails easily. I really like the color combination, and it was comfortable to carry during a fishing trip today. We had some light rain while I was out, and I was impressed that everything inside stayed dry. It’s a useful, good-looking pack that I’ll definitely continue using. If I could change anything, I would add a few more pockets for organization, and for my particular needs, I definitely should have gone with the bigger size. Overall, I really enjoy using it.

I recently used the Granite 22 on a trip to Italy, including several via ferrata's and a high-alpine circuit. The pack carried comfortably throughout the trip and offered a great balance of organization, durability, and functionality. The dual-access design was especially useful for reaching items buried deep in the pack without having to unpack everything. The carry system was comfortable and I found the chest strap and waist belt more than adequate for my needs. The material feels extremely durable, and I had no issues with abrasion after repeated contact with rock. The pack stayed close to the body when moving fast. For multi-hour excursions, the capacity was ideal. I was able to comfortably carry a helmet, harness, food, water, rain jacket, and other essentials. I also appreciated the exterior zip pocket for keeping important items secure and easily accessible, such as my passport and car keys. Overall, this is a really nicely designed pack that performed exceptionally well in the alpine. I can't wait to add the next size up to my gear collection!

I love that this backpack is on the smaller size and fits all my essentials without being too heavy. I often take my dog on my hike with me and I was able to fit her stuff in it too. The clips on the bakpack help me feel secure and I was able to adjust it to fit my smaller frame so it wasn't sliding around on my hike. I definitely hit a few rocks on my hike and the backpack didn't show any signs of damage which was super impressive. It has a nice exterior zip pocket so I could easily access my items without needing to open the whole bag. Overall a really great backpack and will be taking it on all my hokes moving forward.

Minimalist and clean with just the key features that you need. This has been great for longer multi-pitch and also for any light and fast days in the mountains where you need a little more space than a smaller hydration pack or running vest but don't want to bring an overbuilt larger pack. Bonus is that it's a great carry-on size for the airport as well.
