Runs narrow!

I’ve been the big fan of La sportiva for a long time and always loving it. I left my old model Raptor for the porter after the hike in Kilimanjaro so I need the new pair. My regular shoes size is 8 1/2 but for La Sportiva I’d always wear 9 1/2 and sometimes 9 1/2+ because I wear thick socks. The new version Raptor 3 runs very narrow. The 9 1/2 was so tight and unfortunately no option of 9 1/2+ nor wide. I ended up settled with size 10 (never in my life wearing size 10). That’s the sizing issue, otherwise I love the water proof and the comfort the shoes offer. The color (onyx/azalea) is so pretty. The shoes still deserve my 5 stars.

My favorite boot has changed

It’s hard to rate these as I think they are great boots for someone else. I originally had the Raptor 2 and absolutely loved them, they were a dream for my finicky feet. This new version does have a wider universal toe box, no wide sizes this version, but the heel of the boot has changed. I’ve wore these on two hikes and they absolutely killed my heels. Both hikes I developed big blisters on the inner heel of both feet and after hiking the heel of my foot was in a lot of discomfort. I never had this problem with the raptor 2. I’m sad this version doesn’t work for me, back they go.

Great toe room

The size 42 (w10) fit, and there is room for heavier socks. I had worn Ultra Raptor II for a long time. So I am happy with these boots. They will work One thing: how disappointing that the pair I received looked like it had been someone else’s return. I have no idea how long the other person wore them. They were a bit scuffed, not laced up, and no internal boot storage like a brand new pair would be. Why is REI not sending a brand new pair? Or at least replace the internal boot storage support and lace them up. Great boots but poor customer exchange service

Love them

I’ve only ever had Lowas and Merrels. I LOVE these! They are so much lighter and not bulky at all.

Great on rugged trails of NH's White Mountains

These boots check all the boxes for me! Rugged, waterproof, comfortable! I wore them backpacking in NH's White Mountains after a night of heavy rainfall. These boots had great traction on the wet terrain and kept my feet dry on numerous river/stream crossings. Just be sure to go up a full size. My normal shoe size is a 6 and I got the 38s which are equivalent to a 7.

Happy hiker

I bought these boots to wear on a couple of upcoming trips. I tested them out at home and the fit was great and very comfortable. I have a slightly wider foot and there is plenty of room in the toe box. I wore them in Alaska for some excursions and the waterproofing was just what I wanted. I would recommend these boots.

Light boots!

These are nice boots! So much lighter than my Oboz Bridgers! Cooler and more flexible, but with good ankle support. The sole grips well, but is not as stiff as my Bridgers. It is nice to have both pair, so I can choose depending on the terrain, how big my pack is, and/or how much warmth I need. The sizing is a bit weird - a 41 regular (I don't think they come in wide) has almost the exact same width and length of a 40 WIDE in Oboz. If you take the insoles out and compare them they are almost exactly the same size, maybe even the exact same size. I usually take a 39 in shoes, but I almost always hike with a pair of toe socks and a thin "everyday" Darn Tough or Smartwool sock, so I need my boots a little bigger. Really glad La Sportiva started making these with a wider toe box!

Great boot

After greater than 10 years of regular use, my old Keen hiking boots needed to be replaced, went to REI to try on their boots and found the La Sportiva boot and it is perfect. Have worn for 3 hikes so far, one hike was in the rain and they are everything I hoped for, comfortable, waterproof and provide good traction on steep, slick trails. I had to size up a full size to get the toe room I needed. Would define you recommend.

Very light but not great for technical hikes

I was looking at a lighter alternative to the La Sportiva Nucleo High II GTX Hiking Boots which I have worn for years. The newest version seems heavier than past models so I tried the Ultra Raptor 3. I wore it a few times on short hikes and it is light. The boot runs slightly smaller than the Nucleo. I wear a 41 in the Nucleo but the 41.5 in the Ultra Raptor was too big. I wore the size 41 Ultra Raptor on a 9.5 hike with 3300 gain and discovered the following: 1) boot is slightly wider in the heel than the Nucleo and I got a minor hot spot 2) the boot is great on regular trails/fire roads but the boot doesn't supply enough support on semi-technical trails. I also found even after removing the factory insole and using an OTC insole that the sole of the boot seemed thin and I felt every sharp rock. I will use these boots on non-technical hikes and have returned to the Nucleos which offers more support, albeit heavier.
