I liked the pack. It had lots of useful pockets, came with a rain fly, and was set up for using a water bladder. The only thing was since I’m short, the frame is not a good fit for me. I’m 5’3”. The packs with XS/S frames are a better fit for me. So I ended up returning the pack. A lot of packs seem to be leaning toward having a one size fits all frame, which don’t work for me.
I’ve carried this for almost 100 miles now always on day trips. The best feature is the back panel ventilation, no more sweaty back and it gives nice support. The hip belt fits my small iPhone but larger phones would be difficult. There is plenty of space between all the compartments. Rain cover has came in handy. What I don’t like is where the buckle of the adjustable straps are placed. They hit on the inside of my arm causing it to rub with each arm swing, huge design flaw to me as these could have been designed with the buckle closer to the bag. I also feel like I’m constantly readjusting hip and shoulder straps as my load shifts from my hips to my shoulders during my hike usually after having to climb over a log. Maybe I still don’t have the adjustment quite right. Overall I like this bag. I’ll continue to carry it. Some due to how much I like the ventilation but a lot because of how expensive bags are. If more affordable I would try and see if another bag would fit me better. 3.5stars
I bought this pack last late last year, so have taken it out a fair few times now. Very comfortable and lots of room, also included a rain cover. The downsides- a bit too wide for me personally, and not useful for scrambling or trying to get through tight places. Also I just cannot get on the pole system at all. No matter how I secure them, they end up banging on my legs or annoying me under my arms. I was going to purchase a new more slimline model for scrambles, but the pole storage system has completely put me off. A real shame.
I cannot say enough good things about the staff at REI.
