The fit of the jacket is terrible. The arms are too long and the sides are very straight so it's very unflattering on the body. It seems like all the Arcteryx jackets fit has changed for a few years. They are no longer tapered but very straight like a men's jacket and look frumpy. I own a dozen Arcteryx jackets and I haven't been able to find a jacket that has a good fit that looks good on the body for a few years now. I love the brand but I won't be purchasing anymore jackets unless the fitting issue gets fixed. Please go back to the tapered fit.
I bought this jacket at a time when the Atom Jacket and any other midlayer piece without a hood didn't seem to exist on the website, as I was tired of all the hoods and bunching when I was wearing all my layers up the mountain. I bought my usual size (medium) and it has a similar look and feel to the Atom but perhaps a bit more lightweight. I've worn it on resort days, out touring, xc skiing and it's a very versatile piece - I honestly don't notice it which is a great factor as it's keeping me warm and comfortable when I'm out exerting myself in the cold. I did buy it in the white colour which wasn't the best move (in regards to getting it dirty/blending in with the snow). If I did get it in another colour, I'd consider wearing it hiking/biking/camping in the summer. Overall, I'm still reaching for it every time I head up the mountain and it layers well.
I took a chance on this based on the good reviews. I LOVE it! I ordered a medium first & had to exchange it for a small. I’m 5’2” about 145 muscular build. It’s definitely roomie, but fitted at the same time. Plenty of room to layer underneath. I took it for a test walk in 21° I was almost too warm. I just had a thermal underneath. It’s stretchy w/ great freedom of movement
This jacket is now my favourite mid layer. If you ski or snowboard this is a great addition to the roster. It’s super comfortable and light. On the sunny days when it’s warm it is still breathable enough to use without overheating. On the colder days I just add a thicker base layer and I’m good to go. As a standalone it is also really easy to use and looks great! The sizing was perfect for me and fits true to size.
Nice option without a hood. Lightweight, moderate warmth, seems to run large or else is designed for a much looser overall fit compared to the Atom.
