Love this bag!
I wanted a Del Dia Dark Allpa for a while but the 35L was too big for me as a shorter person. As soon as they released the Allpa 28L Del Dia Dark, I knew I had to get it and I am so happy I did! The colors are amazing. My favorite color happens to be blue so when I saw how many blue/aqua accents there were on the bag I was ecstatic. The bag is the perfect size for me (5’3) and it holds a surprisingly large amount of stuff. I did a test pack and was able to pack enough for about a week in this bag when fully stuffed using a capsule wardrobe. I can’t wait to take it on my trip to London next month!
Amazing!
Just got it in and just used it to n my first trip. I freaking love it and can’t wait for my next trip. Hope it will be worth the investment and every penny. The pops of color are stunning! ❤️
A fantastic little backpack, with some puzzling design choices you should know about
I love my Allpa backpack (especially in the del dia dark colorway!) and have used it everyday for the last 5 months to transport my books, binders, and laptop/tablet around college, as well as packing for several week-long plane trips in it. In that time, several things have stood out to me: The good: -in the Del Dia Dark colorway it is so pretty, and gets lots of comments - the laptop sleeve is padded and (despite the description) will fit a reasonably slim 16” laptop (think: 16” MacBook Pro or my 16” asus proart P16) - there is a ton of space and different compartments, plus the book-style opening makes travel organizing a breeze - there are so many handles! You can grab the bag from any angle, which is surprisingly useful if using it to travel on planes. - there are lots of little conveniences built in: for example, if you don’t want the waste straps there is a slot in the back-padding of the backpack to tuck them away in. The bad: - The tablet sleeve, though claiming to accomodate a 13” tablet (read: the 13” IPad Pro, since that is by far the most popular 13” tablet) is only *just* big enough, and will not fit the tablet if it has apple’s relatively slim keyboard case on it. The tablet can just go in the main laptop compartment however, even if you also have a laptop in there. - the book-style bag opening isn’t great for everyday school backpack use; in order to get anything out of it comfortably you need an ~3’ square area to open the backpack on and lay it out, which you don’t really have when sitting at a little lecture desk. - there is only a singular water bottle holder, which, while the one you get is stretchy enough to accommodate most water bottles, is still mildly inconvenient. Overall, I love my bag and am happy with my purchase! Also, Cotopaxi’s warranty is great, so if you have any issues (as I did, but it was my own fault) they are happy to help you out. And they pay for the shipping!
I Got Everything I Wanted
I had been looking at the Allpa 28L for a while and when I showed one to my wife in a local store she decided it was perfect for her and bought a purple one. So, I had time to see how it worked for her on a couple of trips and how it compared to my old Osprey Nebula 34. It is very different to my Osprey, but I was intrigued enough that I decided it would work for me, and I really liked the look and feel of the Del Dia Dark fabrics, so after returning from a recent trip I ordered the Del Dia Dark because although I am not a fan of black backpacks, the dark color acts as more of a canvas for the colored accents. When I ordered I was hoping for a purple or blue lama and was excited to get the purple one. I was also lucky to get some great colored zippers. The bag is an excellent design. I really like how large the main back compartment is. Especially how deep it is. If it was a tiny bit wider it would be easier to fit larger shoes, so anyone with a large torso or shoes over size 10 will want to look at the 35L model. I was torn about that, but it is noticeably bigger. The front compartment is a little shallower and works well with a small cube or a place to drop items. My Alpaka pouches fit well, but my Tomtoc T35 is a little longer and needs to go in vertical, or in the larger compartment, or just clipped on the outside. I really like how the top pocket is large enough for a a pocket camera or Alpaka pouch, but is too small for the Tomtoc T35. There are a couple of other zippered pockets that are convenient for dropping small/slim items. One place where I think Cotopaxi has missed an opportunity is with their packing cubes because I really wanted coordinating cubes, but their sizes are strange. The 10L is a good size, but would be better as a 10x9 so that two would fit better in the main 28L compartment. The others do not really coordinate size wise with the 10L to fill the space in the 28L pack. What I did in the end was to buy each of us a set of the three Matador cubes, which fit almost perfectly in the main back panel. Their colors are a bit boring, but the small and medium cubes pair to be the same size as the large cube. Cotopaxi needs something similar. Cotopaxi also needs a single slim or two slim cubes that pair well to fill out the front compartment, so maybe 10x9x2 inches. Packing cube soapbox aside, I am really happy with the look and feel and dimensions of the pack. I have yet to figure out if it will completely replace my Osprey, but it holds as much and will be better for travel where I want to carry some clothes.
Amazing Travel bag
I ordered my del dia 28L and am happy with the original colors it has. The logo came in purple the colors of the straps and zippers flow into eachother well. If you're not sure if you'll like it i can guarantee you will love it.
Great pack for short trips
Got this pack for long weekend trips. I'm taking my kid to college and will use my luggage allowance for her on the airline, so I need a bag that I can fit under the seat but that will give me enough space for 4 days worth of stuff. This should be plenty roomy! I love the suitcase opening and packing cube-like compartments. Also Great that there are pockets you can access without unzipping the whole pack. Those will take my in-flight needs. The laptop sleeve is great and has a space for a tablet too! I love the black material abs the colored accents are gorgeous on the bag I got. Can't wait to use it for my upcomming trip and for years to come!
Love my new bag !
On a recent trip to Alaska , I borrowed a backpack from my daughter to see if I would like to use one. I did like the convenience and not having to haul a heavy bag on my arm, but didn’t like hers. We were in Seattle waiting to be on our cruise and walked into your shop at the mall. I feel in love with the backpack and my husband bought it for me. The pretty colorful bag was a hit. We are off to Ireland soon and I can’t wait to show it off. It is the perfect size and has so my compartments and the weight does not hurt my back at all. Great purchase !
Straps really rub against neck unfortunately
I like the features of the pack like the zippers that open from the side, small pouch at top for passport etc. but if you are a smaller female (5'2"") then I wouldn't get this pack. I tried on my husbands fairview 40 travel pack women's and even though it's larger pack and the bag had stuff in it the straps were way more comfortable so I'll be returning this Cotopaxi bag and ordering the osprey so my suggestions would be to mimic the straps on the above pack as it's got great reviews for comfort or even my basic north face backpacks have more comfortable straps.
Allpa 28L
Love this bag and it fit smaller international carry on size requirements. The multiple pockets and sections are great. Used it when traveling from the US to Europe and as an overnight/weekend bag. It's comfortable to wear as well. The only drawback for me it's that when it's packed full, it's extremely hard to zip . Once zipped, there's still a bit of room, but the section divider prevents it from being fully packed and zipped. As a traveler that crams in every last thing, I could use that space for an extra pair of pants or souvenirs but instead have to pack (or buy) a little bit less. Truly great product, hope they can slightly redesign to allow more give in the side with the smaller pockets so it's easier to zip when full.
Perfect
So I needed a bag that would hold my everyday stuff plus a change of clothes/things to freshen up. I needed it to be durable and comfortable. Love that it can transition to being a day trip bag and that it’s comfortable enough I would be able to do a hike with it. The colors give it a fun flair but the black keeps the city grime from being visable. The zippers feel really sturdy, and there’s a loop to attach a cute little pull if you want!
