I just ran a 50km race with 5,000 feet of elevation gain and loss wearing these shoes. I was nervous that the toe box height would be too short, but that didn’t end up being an issue at all. I didn’t get a single blister after getting them from other trail shoes. The front toe shield definitely saved my big toe more than once after slamming into some rocks. I’d recommend them for lighter mud and snow conditions, but overall they were very comfortable and fast. They fit true to size to my vaporflys. Very satisfied and an eye catching piece.
Top tier trail shoe
Incredible trail shoe from Nike…well balanced shoe with a great lockdown. The zoomx is much softer than its predecessor but still offers the connection a trial runner needs from foot to ground. The sole is quite aggressive but you don’t feel it running on tarmac or light trail which is really important to me. I took just under a minute a mile of my pb for a coastal run wearing this shoe, it blew me away. The colour is a lot brighter than the pic and really is an eye catching wear…11/10.
I had big expectations on this pricy shoes but am terrible disappointed. They’re not as comfortable as I thought they would be not much overall cushion leave me with knee pain at the end of my runs, I find the wild horse 10 more comfortable and more heel cushion than this more expensive shoes.
Awesome Pair
Amazing pair of shoes. I’m a frequent runner on the road and trail (light to mild terrain). Very stable on the heel and very light. The shoes have energy return and you can feel it. It wants you to go faster. I have put in 30 miles and it feels great. Will buy another pair.
Amazing trail shoe.
Fabulous trail running shoe. I run 5-10k trail runs three times per week, so a fairly amateur runner. I have been using the Pegasus Trail 5 and Peg 4 GTX mainly this year which are both great shoes. I wanted to try these due to the full ZoomX, carbon plate and Vibram sole. I was hesitant because a lot of the reviews online (incorrectly) paint this as a focussed race shoe only. It’s not. It’s a comfortable, well cushioned everyday trail trainer as well as something you can push for a pb in. The carbon plate is not intrusive and with faster/longer strides really returns something extra. Cut a minute from my 10k pb two weeks into using them. Construction is solid, comfort is excellent. Super stable, grippy on grit and loose surfaces. I take a size 9 in regular shoes but always order half a size up in running shoes and that’s perfect for these too. My road running shoes are Vomero Plus and they too have full ZoomX but feel nothing like these at all, these are way more stable and less marshmallowy in their cushioning.
Basically bin all your legacy trail shoes
Forward propelling with solid grip that’s fine on tarmac as blades are short. Wide front footprint like original invincible and original vaporfly rear. Great uphill. Basically bin all your legacy trail shoes.
Beauty and Performance
Comfort, style and beauty. Not to mention performance! The color on these shoes is remarkable. They are stable, have good bounce to them and the grip is fantastic.
Carbon for the trails
Trail runs are my new favorite. These add stability and spring to my step when running. Highly recommend for trail running.
Speedy yet none forgiving
Raced in the first version of the Ultrafly's and thought these would have been an improvement to them. I'll give it to Nike that these are a super snappy shoe with a great upper fit. The Vibram outsole is grippy as well -- no issues there. The main issue I'm having with them is the midsole is even stiffer than the first version! I've gotten 30 miles in the shoes so far and am hoping that it's just a break-in issue, but my feet are so sore after running in these that I cannot fathom doing any ultramarathon distance race in them, especially on technical terrain.
Very comfortable excellent shoes 👍
