Under side is not durable.
I bought these sandals for a 2 night/3 day backpack on Santa Cruz Island this past March. While the sandals were comfortable, after I finished the hike, I checked the state of the sandals, and I saw large chunks of the material missing on the underside. The hike isn't particularly rocky, nor was I walking on sharp rocks, so I'm pretty surprised by how damaged they were from a 14-mile trip. I was thinking of using these as a summer/warm-weather hiking/backpacking foot option, but these results mean I need to check if the trail is going to destroy the sandals more, which is a bummer considering it's a $110 pair of sandals. These are better suited for casual city backpacking versus in the field.
