This is perfect size for various uses. I used it as a dry bag when snowboarding in Utah (think warm wet snow), I also used it when backpacking in the canyon on a trail to a hot spring and set it down on the wet snow and rocks next to the spring, no water marks on the bag, my quick dry towel did not make the bag wet inside nor leak through and get my coat wet while carrying a wet towel back to the car. I brought it to Hawaii and sand did not stick to it, the salt water was not a issue for water marks and it held owala water bottles (24oz) just fine without any sign of stretching out the side holders. My husband and son got dry bags from LL Bean as this style was not available in short notice and we are returning those bags due to one shoulder strap issue already and drastic difference in quality between this bag and that one. This bag is a 10/10!!!
Love this backpack. Thoughtfully designed with needed features but nothing extra that might make it unnecessary heavy. More colors please?
I was looking for a small waterproof backpack for an upcoming Disneyland trip, so my things would stay dry on rides like Grizzly River Run and Tiana's Bayou Adventure. I needed it to be small enough to fit into the ride bins, but large enough to carry water and snacks and a few random things for 4 people for the day. I also wanted it to be comfortable, with a half-decent back-panel/harness. I tested this pack in my back yard by dumping 4 buckets of water on it, while spraying it for a solid 5 minutes on the rainfall setting of my garden hose. I had towels inside to see if anything got wet. Nothing did! I am happy to report that this pack is solidly waterproof! A few things to know though: 1. The harness system has a nice and comfortable memory-foam type mesh that retains water. So even though your stuff will stay nice and dry, you wont. The back panel stayed wet for about 2 hours (full sun, 70 degrees) after I doused it. Not a deal breaker for me, but something to be aware of. The front of the shoulder harness does have some water proofing on it, but once the back panel gets wet, and the underside of the shoulder straps get wet, it's going to stay that way for awhile. 2. The bottom did eventually start to soak through when it was sat in water for a very long time. (didn't record exactly how long, maybe a couple hours?) so it IS possible for this to soak through eventually. Definitely not a submersible pack, and not meant for sitting in water. 3. The exterior pocket is not waterproof like the main interior, which for my purposes makes it useless. I am honestly not sure why they'd bother to include it if it's not going to also be waterproof. I guess extra storage for dry days? Other thoughts: I do like that it can be used as a hiking pack, daypack, biking pack, it's pretty versatile. It won't excel at any of those things, but it can do it all competently. I would love more internal organization, but totally understand why that would be difficult to do. $99 feels a bit steep. I got this during an REI sale and used my dividend, so it was less for me, but I'd say this is a solid pack at about $80. This is only because it's lacking in organizational features and a true harness system. The quality seems to be very good. I'm impressed with it so far, and hope it proves to be as durable as it is waterproof (so far)!
Very nice and waterproof. I tried using it on a waterfalls hike. I like the 15 L size. The only thing is there's bladder inside to put the hydration bladder.
