These socks surprised me by how supportive and comfortable they were! I normally wear ankle or no-show socks for walking, but these tube socks felt just as nice or more so. I like the eco-friendly packaging, which comes with a reusable elastic band that you can use as a hair tie. The Smartwool kept my feet warm and dry, whether I was walking in warm or cool weather. I love the color, which is a dark navy blue, with some gray and lighter blue patterns. The light padding on the bottom of the socks help support my feet, since I have low arches. These socks are a great choice for walking and hiking.
Love these socks! Perfect weight for a variety of activities in a range of temps. They felt super comfortable on my feet, and didn't get all sweaty and damp even though I wore them in very hot conditions. They felt more cushiony than most socks of the same weight, and I never felt a hot spot or seam irritation. If I had any complaint, it would be that they were slightly tight around my lower calf. I don't think I have overly fat/wide "cankles" but I didn't like the fit when I pulled them up all the way. Overall, a great sock for almost anything. I've tried a lot of different brands and styles and this line of socks might be my favorite ever.
The Smartwool Women's Performance Hike Light Cushion Tube Stripe Crew Socks are another warm, comfortable, and well-made Smartwool sock. The cushion adds welcomed comfort for those long days on the trail or lounging around on a winter day. The mesh on the top of the sock allows for temperature exchange and flexibility. I am also really happy to see that Smartwool used sustainable materials in the construction of this sock - another positive to choosing this product. Would recommend!
These socks looked so bulky I was concerned they wouldn’t fit into my hiking shoes. They did feel a little tight in the shoe when I first put them on but as I started hiking I realized that padding is really helpful. I usually wear merino wool cycling socks when I hike so these were a real eye opener. The ball of my foot was sometimes painful but with these socks my feet felt great. I also found them to be really soft. These socks are warm. I live in Tucson and the hike today was 95 degrees. These will be great when it’s a little cooler. I also appreciate Smartwools packaging, not excessive and the hair band was a nice touch. No plastic clips or ties.
took these out for some hikes and trail runs and they worked great. my feet run hot, so they were a bit thick for my preference—will go back to my ultra light socks for now—but am excited to try these in the fall/winter.
I love these socks. I've been a fan of SmartWool for many, many years and really like how they have upped their game with their socks. The design/colors are getting more interesting and they are keeping the quality the same. I loved how these felt on my hike. They were really cushion-y and my feet did not get too hot. I'd recommend these--especially if you want to have them for a long time. SmartWool socks are built to last.
If you have narrow feet, these are the answer. They hold tighter around my foot than the darn tough brand.
These socks do one thing that I absolutely require with my hiking socks and that is stay up without cutting off the circulation. Don't you hate taking off your socks and having an indented ring around your ankle at the end of the day? They also have reinforcement further up the heel, which is where my socks always seem to wear out the fastest. So, great socks for hiking in boots. Why did I give them a 4 and not a 5? I do not recommend these socks for hiking shoes. They have too much volume from cushioning to work in my hiking shoes - I tried them with my boots and shoes. Granted, my hiking shoes are what I wear most often, but when I go high and especially in the rocks, these are great. I have only worn them for a few hikes in the past weeks so can't verify how well they last through multiple washes, but they work on successive hikes - and don't stink.
I have always steered away from wool socks for concerns of the texture of the material. I have always associated it with itchy and scratchy. No more! These are very comfortable in texture-soft! I will absolutely purchase more come winter. These do have light cushioning, and have enough compression at the top to stay up. I wear an 8.5 size shoe, have a wide foot, and these fit well. They look great too.
This is a quintessentially great hiking sock. I like the look, which I can’t say for every pair of hiking socks I own, and most importantly, they’re comfortable! I hiked in these during hot, humid spring days, and my feet stayed cool and dry. I’ve worn them with my high, ankle supportive hiking boots and with day hikers, and they fit great with both. I wore a size down from my usual size (I’m a 9, and I wore the size that goes up to 8.5), and they fit perfectly. I highly recommend these socks!
