Awesome
These pants are great! They are very light and soft but they have proven to be very durable too. I usually wear them foraging in wet PNW forests scrambling around through brush and thorns and they have held up well without any trouble. I have also worn them backpacking and cross country skiing. They work great over a base layer or over regular pants, they are so soft and stretchy that it doesn’t feel like wearing too many layers even over double knee work pants. They pack into their own pocket so they are easy to bring along just in case it gets wet outside. I usually wear large but I chose a medium in these pants and I’m glad.
Light, a little stretch, ventilation AND waterproof!
Picked these up specifically for a long bikepacking trip, and they did not disappoint. Rained like crazy and these pants only needed a band to taper them on the right side so they didn't catch in my chainring. Light, a little stretch and the 2 way zipper allowing for ventilation all worked great for the 3 days it poured while riding through the La Sal mountains. Paired up with a Mountain Hardwear Pac Lite Gore-Tex rain jacket was a winning combo for me.
Excellent stretch & good breathability
Over midweight pants the fit was so so, a little more room would have been better. Winter weight pants would be an issue. Waterproofness seems good but hard to say since I have only worn them while walking/hiking haven't sat in them for long in the rain like in a hunting situation. The Velcro tabs however were a total fail. They weren't study enough to hold under the slightest pressure at the hip even though the waist has elastic across the back. Added heavier Velcro with some Gorilla glue. Seam sealed thigh pocket and fly are definite pluses. Full length side leg zips were a must for easy on and off but the design needs work they don't totally detach because of zipper pulls at both ends
Field Tested
I've had these for a few months now and have used them snowshoeing, snow camping, backpacking, and walking the dog in the PNW. I think the Stretch Ozonic pant offers a good balance of weight, durability, and breathability. No, they're not as bomber as my GORE-TEX Pro pants, but they're more flexible, pack smaller, and don't weigh as much. I love the ability to vent the legs via side zips and the little pocket is a perfect size for a phone, trash, or other misc. items on the trail. On a recent section of the PCT it rained pretty solid for 2 days and these performed as well as hoped. If you've ever hiked in rain pants you know you'll eventually get damp from the outside or the inside...so maintain realistic expectations. I hiked comfortably in the rain all day by adjusting the vents based on weather and general material breathability...I can't say that for many other rain pants I've owned in the past.
Packable
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These rain pants are part of my cycle touring kit because they are very pack-able light and zippered to don without having to remove shoes. Honestly, I haven't had the need to use them much but I wouldn't tour without them. Mountain Hardwear is addictive; the quality and performance matches my needs while the cut and look of the garments appeal to my vanity. Cost isn't a concern because quality clothing is durable and....most importantly......comfortable clothing gets worn. I frequently sleep in mountain hardwear clothing because it is warm and comfortable.
Amazing Hardshell Pant
Thanks for designing and manufacturing an awesome hardshell pant. These are the most comfortable rain/wind pant I have ever owned. I love the stretch material, light weight, and features. The zipper fly is critical for access while wearing a climbing harness. The belt kept the pants up when on approach and climbing. The side zips are perfect for taking on/off with boots and/or crampons. I was skeptical of the water resistance, but in a recent downpour, they kept me dry. The fit was true. I have not had any problem with durability so far, but until I have worn them for the entire season, I am uncertain how they will hold-up. If they are like other MH products, I do not expect any durability issues. I really appreciate this great product!
Lightweight
This raingear is breathable, lightweight, and comfortable. its very packable, it easily rolls up and doesn't take up much space in a backpack or on my boat. I haven't gotten the chance to really test out the waterproof capabilities in heavy rain yet but based on the material and my experience with other raingear it looks like it will be pretty effective. I like the full zipper legs on these pants. they make taking them off and putting them on easy with shoes on.
Comfortably Stretchy
I worm my about 20 times in warm and cold weather. They have kept me dry and done really well at blocking the wind. I like to wear something else underneath the pants otherwise it feels a little clammy. Mine have little tabs at the bottom that I use with an elastic cord to keep them down, but I only need that on the very windiest days or went post holing through snow. I have a short inseam and they fit great.
Love these
The only bummer about these is I outgrew them and have to buy another pair. I used these for a month long backpacking trip through the Himalayas. They saw daily grind through snow and ice fields in which they totally held up in heavy downpour for hours as well. Used them as shell outer layers and outer rain shells and they worked great. They were also incredibly light weight for my pack.
MEN'S OZONIC PANT
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Product arrived timely. I'm often reluctant to buy electronically, fearing the fit won't be as advertised. The Ozonic pants fits perfectly; waist is accurate and I ordered the extended crouch which provides more leg and crouch room. In short, a good purchase experience which I trust will continue by keeping one's butt dry when fishing in the rain.
