These are great shoes. Lots of structural stability. Killer grip, good venting, flat laces stay snug and cool lace holder. A little more snug in the tube box compared to the novas but that is good for technical terrain.
Ran a trail half marathon the first time I put these on, and had zero issues. Rock plate must work like a dream, because I didn’t feel any. I can see these becoming my go-to trail shoe!
Very comfortable, but be warned, they are more narrow than what you'd expect from Merrell. It seems they went for more of a "performance fit" than their usual wide toe box. At least for my feet, there was room to partially splay my toes on the inner side, but my outer toes were much more constricted. I typically wear a size 13, but when running downhill (even with a lace lock) my big toes jammed the front of the shoe and my outer toes started getting a little battered as well. I would go a 1/2 to a full size up from normal in order to avoid your toes jamming. Unfortunately, they don't make a 14 so I had to return these and go for a different shoe despite them being very comfortable and stable for regular hiking.
I’ve always bought the MOAB style Wide width shoes which provide excellent heel stability. The right shoe keeps on rolling to the right no matter how tight I go. I’m a big guy and maybe the lack of horizontal support is not there or just need a chiropractic adjustment to correct this.
The previous generation of this shoe was the perfect trail runner for me. This redesign has made the front gaiter loop too small to admit a real gaiter's hook, and removed the velcro gaiter attachment site from the back. I guess these features were removed to save a few grams, but it makes these much less convenient if you constantly kick dirt into your other shoe like me.
I love Merrill’s but these agility 6 are just too narrow, I had to find the agility 5 some where. They are a good fit if you have narrow feet.
I wore these shoes for several weeks as part of a testing program when they were in the development phase. I had an excellent experience with them, and appreciated how lightweight they are in particular. The shoes are versatile, good for trail running, day hikes, and also casual wear around town. Durability has been great the whole time I've had the shoes and they seem like they'll continue to last for many months to come. Aesthetics are awesome too. Highly recommend.
I bought this pair about a month ago after doing some research on different shoes. Since then I have done Angel’s Landing, South Kaibab of the Grand Canyon, and various other hikes in the southwest. These have been amazing, great traction and excellent comfort without sacrificing any durability. I’ll certainly be getting another pair once these wear out, I hope to see a version with the BOA system in the near future.
I tested these for the past few months and have enjoyed them. They are comfortable on long runs and feel responsive. I am a fan of using gaiters on trail runs so I personally put a piece of velcrow on the heel. They have worn well, I have over 200 miles on them and expect another 150-200 miles without issue.
I've had these shoes for about 3 months now and they have really impressed me. I love the comfort and weight, plus they have not shown much wear (I have put approximately 250 miles on them).
