As someone who is shorter, 5'2'' , I exchanged the Small for an XS which was the better fit for me. These are definitely full length pants on me, not capris. The waist is higher than I'd normally want, but the fabric and fit is comfortable and great for traveling, hiking and rock climbing.
I’ve been hiking in these pants for a year now and they’ve solved a lot of issues I’ve had with previous hiking pants. I love the high waist and have zero issues with the Velcro waist. It actually helps accommodate for bloated days. I’m 5’9” so they are actually cropped on me and pair well with hiking boots. The buckle waist is cute and functional. The room more spacious fit allows for easier maneuvering. All hiking pants should be high waisted. It really irks me when my pack sits higher than the waist of my pants. Overall- super cute and functional. I deducted a star because the Zion material tends to pill easily.
These are the perfect anything pant! I bought for mixed wear. I live in hot, humid Florida and these are surprisingly light enough to wear outdoors. I love the colors; they can easily be dressed up or down. They’re nice for plane travel as they’re looser, walking around, or light hiking (wouldn’t recommend if you need protection from bugs because the legs don’t cinch). These are GREAT if you have muscular legs/small waist. I love the small zippered pocket for stashing my credit cards, some cash, keys, etc. Very happy with Prana lately! I’m bringing these pants to Peru with me as they do it all.
I wasn't sure about the fit when I received these but after 3 months of wear these are some of my favorite pants! I originally ordered them to bring on a bike tour, but I grab them all the time. I ordered a small in spruce- I'm 5'4" with a 27" waist and have leg muscles from a full year of ACL rehab. That's made a lot of my old pants fit tight, so I was looking for something a little baggy and these delivered. They are so comfortable and the pockets are great. I've lost a little bit of winter weight and am considering ordering an xs in another color. I'd be happy if more dark colors were offered. Some other reviews mention that the new stretch zion fabric isn't very durable. I did end up pilling an area near the knee from rubbing against one of my canvas bike bags. I can see these getting some wear if you're scrambling around rocks too. But they are lightweight and that's important for my uses.
I didn't think I would buy these again. I do not understand the tapered leg and I really don't get the velcro. The velcro will fail. You know this. I know this. Are we not allowed metal buttons anymore? They're fine if you just wear them on easy hikes, but the second you get close to a rough surface like a rock, they immediately pill up as if frightened. And why are they tapered? I love Prana clothes, but these missed the mark, especially for that price point. The Durado and Kanab pants are amazing and I just wish I had purchased another one of those instead. Ah well, life's an adventure.
I love the prAna Zion Cargo shorts but was so disappointed to see the pockets on their pants version were flaps, not like the shorts. I got these Zion Cinch shorts instead and am mostly content. Biggest thing is I prefer there to be two cinches, one on each side. When it is only the one cinch in the front, it can make more of a front bulge. I really like the leg shape, but as a pear shape where cinches are sometimes my only hope for pants to fit, I still want them to lay well.
Stretch Zion fabric is outstanding as always. Pocket placement & relaxed fit on this are very flattering. I reduced to 3 stars though for two reasons. The pant closure with the velco is not a good choice a flat button or snap would be a better option because the velco is perfectly positioned to snag on soft shirts or become less effective with washes and active movements. I am likely going to remove the velco and install my own snap becuse I dislike it that much. Second reason for the star reduction is that the length/shorter inseam is fine for climbing or around town but a full length inseam option would make them more versitile. This length is a bit too long for me so it just looks like I bought the wrong length pants.
Love, love, love these. I have wanted another pair of Prana pants since I bought some Halle's years ago and these are perfect. The shape, pockets, and fabric and are all phenomenal for basically any activity. They definitely are long on me (I am 5'2) so I will either roll them up or hem them. I also agree that they would work especially well for someone with more muscular thighs and a small waist. They are a bit baggy on me in the seat/thigh area but I am ok with it. I bought the tawny color and I would say it's a slightly lighter in color than the photos.
Love LOVE the fit of these! High waist with clean A-lines that shape over hips without billowing or being "hippy" (as many recent Prana styles have become). Perfect rise & back pocket placement that do not goose or make your arss look like a bill board. Quality fabric that feels more durable/thicker than prior Zion models w/lots of functional pockets. Will be my new Go To for the river & day hikes. TTS: 5'8", 114, 00 or 0, bought XS. Only complaint is the excess belt strap has nowhere to go other than hang down (needs a belt loop or hole to secure).
I just took these pants on a trip to Spain! I love the lightweight fabric and the stretch of the legs. The zip pocket was perfect for my passport as well. Loved all the pocket options. I even went on an impromtu mountain bike ride in them and they were fantastic. I do wish the waist had a slight stretch to it; that is the only downfall for this design. The waist is slightly tighter in proportion to the pant, and given the comfort of the rest of the pant, having a little elastic in the waist would make these pants absolutely perfect.
