REI Lightweight Shorts
These REI shorts were very lightweight and comfortable. My only issue was that the adjustable band around the waist could have had a little more band to expand. Since I am plus size more adjusting was needed, but they still fit and I could still do a lot of moving around in them! These shorts are great for mid-late spring, summer, and early fall. Great for hiking and just being outside in general.
Lightweight Trail Shorts
These shorts are my new Go-To hiking shorts. They have great pocket depth and space, and zipper/cloth over protection. These shorts can carry small necessities (smartphone, army knife, small snack) with ease. They’re made of a very lightweight but durable fabric, and although I haven’t been caught in the rain in these, they seem like they’d dry quickly. Highly recommend these for summer hikes, and just general summer/vacation shorts. That’s the other thing I really like about these shorts - they’re cute! I will pack these for warm vacation destinations - even if I don’t plan on hiking. Just walking around town, these would be great. They do run slightly large. I’m normally a M, but the Small fits great.
These shorts will change your hike for the better!
These shorts feel like you are wearing nothing! The pockets are nice and deep, and the adjustable waistband ensures these will fit me while plus/minus 10lb fluctuations. I love the color, and especially how in addition to the deep standard pockets, there are zip pockets on the backside and mesh outer pockets for all storage needs. Are they cute? In my opinion these are the least flattering shorts I have ever put on my body, as is, but the bottoms roll up easily and what they lack in aesthetic they far make up for in utility. It's HOT in FL, and these do not trap heat. They prevent chafing. No areas of discomfort have been experienced at all. I normally hike in athleisure, but the ability to store extra camera batteries while on nature photography outings while not getting overheated has been game changer.
Everything you could want in a pair of shorts!
These are the perfect summer shorts. The fabic is lightweight, breathable, and quick drying if your adventure involves water. The shorts do not ride up or rub your thighs when you are walking/ hiking. The pockets on these are incredible. The mesh pockets provide the perfect quick stash for snacks or car keys. The hip pockets are nice and deep which is difficult to find in women's shorts. I also really enjoyed the rear pocket that has a zipper closure to keep things like credit cards secure. The waistband is comfortable and i really liked how the built in belt allows for things to fit perfectly without causing the waistband to bunch up.
Mid but not bad
Wore these on an Easy/Moderate trail in upper NY and would say they, at the very least, met expectations. The shorts are light enough that I'd recommend them for a weekend backpacking trip, but beware the short material is not breathable and you can *feel* it after a while. I did enjoy the double pockets (there are regular front pockets and mesh pockets on top of those) and built-in belt, but wish they'd put the gear loop on the back (but maybe that's just my preference as a climber?). They're a decent staple to have, but wouldn't go out of my way to acquire more.
Amazing shorts
Love these shorts! They’re shorter than I expected in a good way. I thought they were going to be longer but they are the perfect length. Lightweight material so you don’t get too hot and they don’t stick to you. Super comfy! Multiple pockets so you can stash what you need. I really like the color too! Sizing is a bit to the bigger end. These are great for hikes or a day at the beach.
Frustrating belt buckle - but great for hiking
I was so excited about these shorts because the fabric is light and cooling, it has a lot of great pockets. The mesh ones on the front can fit up to 3 pickleballs in there easily, although it does make it awkward to play in. :D I love the fabric, super comfortable for hot climates and after 2 hours of activity, they were holding up great. I'm 5'5", 31" waist, 37" hip and wearing a size Medium which fit perfectly. BUT I can't stand the buckle, it was frustrating enough to drop it to a 3 star rating. You have to hit it exactly right and at the edge of where it clips into the clasp. It often takes me three tries to unbuckle it. I have a tendency to break my nails too so this makes it more frustrating for me as well.
