Peregrine Trail
I love them. Needed a new pair of trail shoes. Was hoping they would work on the snowy sidewalks - and they have! I've put 75 km on them in 2 weeks outside, and am absolutely thrilled with them. They're also going to get me through multiple Spartan Races this year, and a good trail runner is so important!
My fave Peregrine’s yet
This is my 6th pair of Peregrine’s, and probably my favourite. I’ve had the 8, 10 x 2, 10 GTX, 13 GTX and now the 16s. Compared to the 13s, the 16s feel roomier with a wider toe box and mid foot. Less heel cushion that pushes you forward and shortens the shoe so I feel like I have more room. The extra cushioning is noticeable but not obtrusive. The vibram sole is very grippy. I run in PNW/Vancouver area (North Shore) and so far I’m really liking the updates. My only two gripes would be that I don’t like the fabric gaiter hook, not sure it’ll be as durable as the metal was. And the width in the toe box…I like it but I think it went a little too far. Felt my foot shift a bit on my run this am, more so vs my 10s or 13s. Materials are very nice and quite durable so far. Photos show the difference vs the 13 (grey) and the 10 (coral).
Would buy again.
I know these are trail shoes but I wish the upper was a touch more stretchy or had a sock liner or something for a more personalized fit and hug type of hold. I have no issues other than the hard toe guard causes holes in my big toe of my socks. My big toe is my longest toe then gradually shorter so half a size up is way too loose. The sole is solid enough you can feel the ground but it doesn’t hurt and helps even out the ride. Not featherlight but far from feeling heavy or clunky. I also have neuromas and zero issue so that’s a huge plus for me. Also love the pink colours I have. I would buy again.
Toe box Pinch
I don't feel like it's fair to give less than a 3 star review since I did not actually run in these, however, upon trying them on and jogging around the house there seemed to be a construction issue where when the foot flexed at the natural joint where the metatarsals meet the toes, excess material bunched up and pinched inwards on the lateral side of the big toe. Breathable upper materials will often flex inward, but the rubberized part of the shoe was actually creating the pinch point and was super uncomfortable. I could not imagine risking running in these if that was going to happen every landing and take off. It's sad because the heel cup felt well positioned and cushioned and was quite comfortable, good grippy lugs and sole, and light while protective. I have a low volume foot, and the taper of the fit from the midfoot to the toes was a bit wide so it likely would not have worked for me even without the pinch issue anyways. Great colors and liked the upper material. True to size length wise.
Best shoe for trail ultras.
I run trail ultras and have used these for a quadrathlon. I have gone through four pairs of these shoes in the last year. They are perfect for my high mileage trail running demands and feel really great on downhills because the traction helps me pick up speed without feeling heavy. Would recommend to anyone looking for a good trail running shoe or if you are looking for something grippy and comfortable that will last. I don’t really even have to break these in very much because they’re so well made. Love these 1000%!
So comfortable right from the start!
I bought these 3 weeks ago right before I headed to Rome. They literally arrived the day before. We do a lot of walking in Rome (like 6-10 miles a day) because there is so much to see. I decided to bring them to Rome and give them a try there even though I was worried about "breaking them in" and that they might hurt. Instead they were the best pair of walking shoes I had. I wore them throughout Rome and to Tivoli (which is all walking) and LOVED them. We are planning to walk the Camino de Santiago this fall in Portugal and these combined with one more pair of them for good measure will be my walking shoes for the 100 miles of the walk. Thank you for a great pair of walking and hiking shoes!
Hiking shoe help
We typically shop at the San Diego store, but went to the Carlsbad store, hoping they might have a bigger selection. In the shoe department, the gentleman that helped me was not helpful at all quite rude and we ended up leaving after a few minutes feeling very uncomfortable. We went back to the San Diego store one day for my hiking shoes and Joe was incredibly kind and knowledgeable and ended up going back the next day for my husband where MAYCH was also incredible. Thank you to both of them. We are new to hiking and can’t wait!
Overpriced, uncomfortable and ugly
I'm a loyal Saucony customer for 30 years and I'm sad to see they've jumped on the bandwagon of charging what appears to be excessive prices for the product they're making, a trend in hiking shoes everywhere. If you buy through REI, you have the ability to return these if they don't work, which helps, but I found them to actually fit smaller than normal, possibly due to the materials used. The toe box feels very constrictive, for that reason as well. Finally, the mauve/salmon color is pretty awful. Returning.
Great shoe but has a few issues
I am on my 5th pair of the Peregrine. Love the shoe however in the last few versions they have changed some features and not for the better. They changed out the metal gaiter tab to a plastic one that is very difficult to get the hook into. Also they changed the back of the shoe so that a Velcro tab will not stick easily you need to glue it on. Otherwise love the low drop and they are not super wide so fits my narrow foot but has enough toe room.
The best shoe!
I got this pair about a month ago to help me recover from double knee reconstruction surgery. This is my second pair of sucony’s and I absolutely love them! I was a long distance runner for 7 years and could never find a shoe that fit my foot. On my 3rd year of running I was fitted and found that sucony’s fit my foot best and I never went back! I always tell everyone I can about them because they have been perfect for me!
