I'm giving this 5 stars because now that I have figured out how to operate it, I don't see any problems with it. But I had to figure it out for myself --> even the web page they link to didn't explain it to me. After about 10 minutes I figured out that one short press gives you red low; two short presses gives you red high; two short presses AND a long press gives you white low; two short presses AND one long press AND one short press gives you white medium; two short presses AND one long press AND three short presses gives you white high LOL
The remix headlamps get used a lot in military settings. The first push brings the dim red light, a quick second push brings up brighter red light, and holding down the button gets you the dim white light. This is designed to avoid blowing out all your seal team six buddies' night vision on a raid, I guess. It also works well camping. But it also confuses people e.g. the NYT Wirecutter reviewers who ranked much worse headlights much higher than this one (or similar model) as a result. I have one of these I bought in 2011 or 12 that has been all over the United States and world, dropped, thrown in bags, sat on and never babied. It is still going strong, although it only makes about 70 or 80 lumens. The new ones are much brighter, but just as tough
Great product. Previously people complained about manual. I guess they improved it. Manual is now fine as well. Made in the USA is still sign of good quality.
Bought this because I needed to replace my headlamp. And only the red light works.
