Great light weight layer for active kid
This is a great lightweight “hoodie” but really works as a light jacket for kids. Perfect for those transition seasons before it gets too cold. Could also work under a shell for warmth! Packs up really small into its own pocket, so I plan on keeping it on hand for playground days and as a layer for on hikes. We have end up having to lug lots of gear around as parents so it’s nice to have something light weight!
Super light puffer
This is an awesome super light kids jacket. It squashes down small and weighs nothing, and it has a nice liner (inside) that doesn’t feel too slick or too fuzzy. It has the look of a classic puffer but it’s very light so it is ideal for our AZ winter hikes. My son liked the hood and elastic around the sleeves- I think the size we got was a little too big but the elastic helped hold the sleeves up.
Perfect Lightweight Coat for Active Kids
This is an excellent-quality coat that fits well and feels lightweight while still keeping my child warm and dry. It’s waterproof without being bulky, making it comfortable for everyday wear. My child loves it and reaches for it anytime the weather turns chilly — whether heading to school or going on a hike. When he warms up, the coat compresses easily and fits neatly into a bag without taking up much space.
Great kids coat for spring and fall
We got this jacket since my daughter outgrew her older spring/fall coat. We live in the Midwest, so it can be 35 in the morning and 70 in the afternoon in the spring and fall. This jacket keeps my daughter warm in the mornings, and it's super easy to pack away in her backpack for the bus ride home. It's very light but also very warm. She loves the fact that it doesn't feel like a giant winter coat. She also says that she specifically likes how big the pockets are on this coat compared to other coats she's had. The one drawback for her is that it is a pretty wide jacket in the mid-torso area. You can see in the pictures how wide the waist area is, which isn't the worst thing, but I wouldn't call this jacket form fitting. It's nice because it does allow for a few layers of clothes underneath the jacket itself. Overall it's a comfortable easy to get along with jacket that will get handed down to her brother when she's done with it.
My son will love this jacket when he grows into it
I received these products for free from the REI Trailblazers sampling program in exchange for my honest review. I was hoping that my 10-year-old son could use this jacket right away, but it was too big, so my review is based Soley on appearance and quality. The jacket looks and feels really solid and high quality. My experience with REI products has always been wonderful and I fully expect the same outcome with this coat. The zipper was high quality and even though big, the insulated hood will come in handy since my son often forgets his hat. The jacket was very soft and seemed like it would be extremely warm. When my son grows into it in a year, I'm confident he will love it.
