Leak after about 30 days of use!

I received the freestone waders for Christmas last year. Since then I have about 30 days on the river with them. Both knees and both shins leak. I'm incredibly disappointed!

Made out of a pasta strainer.

I can confidently say that these waders do not stand up to any kind of consistent use. I'm a guide and I put a lot of hours on my waders, so I'm used to the occasional seam leak or two. Unfortunately the seams weren't the only problem. The stocking feet on these waders wear out at an unacceptable rate. Less than halfway through my season I was left with a quarter sized hole in the right foot. I'm very careful about the feet of my waders, and don't even step on the ground with the bare wading sock to avoid getting any kind of grit in the boot where it could make holes. Since then I've had to patch several more holes in both feet, as well as a concerning number of seam leaks.

The New Standard

MASSIVE kudos to Simms for making this in such a huge range of sizes. For nearly 20 years, I’ve been a “Gore Tex or nothing” guy for waders, and have an OG set of old Guide waders that still run strong. The new Freestones are AMAZING and really blur that line between “needing” the Guide grade waders and saving a hood chunk of money without compromising durability, comfort, or breathability. I’ve talked to more than a few shop people (and at least one person at the Simms mothership itself) who are grabbing these as their everyday wader, and totally understand why. This is the new standard.

If you want to replace =your waders every 2 years, these are for you.

Replaced my 15 year old Cabela's waders with these in April of 2022. I have used them for 9 days total and just went fishing this past weekend to find out both legs leak at the seam to the boot. The seam tape is coming loose. Thought these would be of better quality.

Great waders, in fact the best over ever owned! Very comfortable and dry, the fit for me was perfect, and they have great mobility as well. Loved the pockets and accessory loops as well. Paired with the Simms freestone wading boot and I give these a 10/10

Great waders!

This wader is my first Simms product and it fit great and for the $ is a fantastic product. The river was cold from snow runoff but kept me pretty comfortable for 3-4 hours before taking a break. Highly recommend

Great gear!

Ive been using the Freestone stocking-foot waders and boots for several years now to duck and pheasant hunt. Prior to this, I used various other wader types such as neoprene and coated nylon pack cloth with integrated boots. I walk miles through and around reeds, sagebrush, and Russian olive patches jump shooting ducks out of creeks and ponds, and flushing pheasants out of cover. Its always a workout, and Ive found this combination of Simms gear to be the best yet for weight, comfort, quietness, and durability. Yeah, I get a pinpoint leak or two every season, but I fix those with AquaSeal. Once, I tore a nice gash in the leg on some unnoticed barbed wire and sent them in for repair. Simms sent me back a brand-new pair for free. Great products and service!

Amazing Customer Service

I had a pair of Simms Tributary waders that lasted me 3 seasons here in the Pacific Northwest. I sent them in to Simms for repairs to the seam tape that had failed. Simms was not able to repair them and gave me an in store credit for the original price of the waders. The fact that they stood by their product warranty is reason enough to keep buying Simms. Now to the waders, the new Freestones fit is as listed but far better than the Tributary waders. The neoprene gravel guards fit tightly and don’t pull up while walking around. I haven’t had them in the water yet but expect them to perform well. The best part is I made this order on Thursday morning and received the waders in the mail Friday morning and Simms threw in a field repair kit for free. Thanks Simms and hopefully you update the Freestone Jacket to match soon.
