Salomon  Sense Aero Stow 5" Shorts - Men's

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As someone who is new to running the shorts were good, they did feel a little tight and short length wise but definitely are very good and flowy. The material is great just wish they were a bit longer.

The zipper pocket on the back did an excellent job of holding my phone tight to my back. For context, I have a pretty large case on my phone, and am used to it bouncing around while I run. This is the first time that this wasn’t the case. The additional pockets for gels are nice as well, and I have found that you can fit earbud cases, car keys, and other small items in them as well. I would like a loop to clip my hat in if I take it off, and I don’t think it’s a massive change. Overall, best running shorts I’ve owned.

Being a big guy with big legs, I usually avoid brief liners for fear of chafing. While these shorts did ride up a little when I picked up the tempo, no chafing occurred. Still, I’ll likely avoid using them on longer runs and continue using them for shorter, lower intensity runs.

I have had these shorts for a few months now, and they are perfect for my everyday runs, whether it is an easy run or a track workout. The back pocket also comes in handy for gels during a long run. Overall, if you are looking for a lightweight short and a pair of shorts that don't chafe, these are the ones to go with.

The only downside is there are no pockets and the length is shorter than I prefer. But they would be great biking shorts or general exercise shorts for anyone that doesn’t mind a short length a bit above the knee

I already own the SENSE AERO 5” and, after using it for a while, I felt the storage capacity was a little limited. I was also curious about the Burnt Umber color, so I decided to order the STOW 5”. The two shorts weigh 84g vs. 106g in size S, so the STOW 5” is about 22g heavier, mainly because of its additional storage features. It is also slightly larger overall than the SENSE AERO 5”. The rear zippered pocket comfortably fits an iPhone 17, and the side pockets can hold two energy gels each. I think the storage makes the STOW 5” particularly useful for half or full marathons. However, it is a little longer and larger than the SENSE AERO 5”, which is my only minor drawback. The fabric feels very similar to the SENSE AERO 5”. The material can snag relatively easily, so some care is needed when wearing and handling it. Overall, if you already own the SENSE AERO 5”, I would recommend the STOW 5” if you want more storage or simply want another pair in a different color, as I did.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] These shorts, functionally, are great. From a style perspective I generally prefer a longer inseam. That said, I have had zero skin chafing or irritation with these shorts which is the most important factor in my book and why they get five stars.

The pocket on the back is pretty good at holding whatever you put in it tight to your body. That is appreciated, but I wish the pocket was just a little bigger, as it was difficult to put my phone in the back pocket while having the shorts on.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Shorts were as expected (5", which is shorter than most workout shorts, but preferred for runners) with an inner liner. Size small was a little smaller than expected, so next time I would order a medium (I have a ~29" waist)
