Great hoody for summer runs/hikes

The Cormac Hoody is part of my go to running and walking/hiking gear in temps ranging from uber humid 95 degree days in the D.C. area to more moderate/warm mountain, beach and pool days. Super light and comfortable and especially great under the unrelenting sun and heat. After purchasing/wearing my first, I ordered four additional ones in short order -- and while I'm traditionally a large in all Arc'teryx products, these run a little big, so I wear it in medium and it is still very comfortable and not tight (I'm 6'2"-6'3", 195 lbs). For a tall, athletic build, the medium is a perfect length and has perfect sleeve length when wearing hoody and/or using thumbholes. Big fan.

Tendency for fabric snags

I have purchased several Arc’teryx Cormac hoodies over past 6 years with various changes in fit and fabrics… but have still loved all of them. However, this recent fabric change is horrible and subject to snagging under normal conditions. Within two weeks’ use, the hoody had fabric snag that can not be pulled out.

Oversized

This hoody is ridiculously oversized. I have several Arcteryx shirts in size large. The sleeves on this hoody are easily 3" longer and the body is 2" wider than other Arcteryx shirts.

Size has gotten too big

I own a dozen Arc’teryx cormac t-shirts and hoodies in men’s size medium. It’s basically the only shirt I wear in the summer and warmer fall temps. Unfortunately; they’ve changed the sizing, and the Cormac hoody and T-shirts fit much larger now. The sleeves are way too long on the hoody, at least 2 inches longer on this new version. Preferred the old internal thumb loops versus the new ones, maybe this is why you lengthened the sleeves? Wish you’d pick some better colorways, also. I do like the black or last seasons black sapphire which you no longer offer. Three stars for the lighter fabric, otherwise, I can’t wear this new version hoody. The tshirt is wearable, but the color options leave much to be desired.

Hi there, thank you for providing your feedback. We appreciate your support of the Cormac collection and are happy to hear it has been a staple in your wardrobe. We're sorry to hear that the updated fit, design, and colour selection did not meet your expectations. We understand how disappointing it can be when a product you've relied on changes in ways that don't suit your needs. We're glad to hear that you appreciate the lighter fabric, and we appreciate you taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We will pass your comments regarding sizing, sleeve length, thumb loops, and colour options along to our team for future consideration.

What happened to my favourite hoodie?

I used to basically live from May to September (while outdoors) in the Cormac hoodie. Unfortunately the new iteration is baggier, lighter, and non-spf/upf rated. How they can think to produce an outdoor summer hoodie without sun protection is a bit of a mystery. What is the “hoodie” protecting you from otherwise? (And to Arc’teryx : PS - when you do go back to making a proper sun hoodie, please ensure you make it in your black sapphire colour. It’s a beautiful & unique shade of blue that turns us all into a happy, walking advertisement for your company!)

Hi Bob, thank you for sharing your review of the Cormac Hoody. We’re glad to hear it’s been such a go-to piece for your outdoor adventures. We’re sorry to hear the updated version didn’t meet your expectations, particularly with the change in fit, fabric weight, and the absence of a UPF rating. We understand how disappointing it can be when updates to a favourite product impact its performance. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we’ve shared your comments with our design team as we continue to improve future iterations. Thank you again for taking the time to leave a review.

Noy for the short and stumpy

Realistically I get it. There are professional climbers that are lean, but I am 6’ 180lbs and am right in between a medium and large. I wish the fit was relaxed around the waist and didn’t go so far down like a dress. These hiking clothes I swear are made for tall skinny people and not the average joe.

Not A Sun Shirt

I am 6’2”, 220lbs, 45inch chest, athletic build. Comfortable and true to size. Although my fault for not researching this shirt better, the fact remains that it is not UV rated and will not protect you from a day out in the sun. Was fishing on the American River in California and had sunburn all over at the end of the day. Will still wear this for other activities, just not the shirt for prolonged exposure to the sun. Overall a good shirt despite its limitations.

Fantastic shirt! with a couple downgrades.

All and all it’s a great shirt! I very much enjoy the new material. However there an a few downgrades compared to last year version. The previous version had reinforced thumb holes, as well as a the same reinforcement on the inside collar. This is not a big deal, but losing those nice features, while costing the same. Shirt also fits quite a bit bigger than the previous version. That all being said it’s truly a fantastic shirt, and my favourite shirt at the moment.

Don't purchase unless the goal is to look cute.

I feel like this shirt was made for short, fat people. I'm 6 ft, 185 lbs with a 30 in waste. Large fits my shoulders but its a belly button shower and looks like a sundress around my waste. Great material but the fit is terrible for an endurance athlete. it doesn't keep we warm in Washington spring/fall and is too hot to be a sun shirt. I would never recond this shirt to anyone that is trying to stay warm-ish in swing seasons.

Hi there, thank you for sharing your review of the Cormac Hoody. We’re glad you liked the material, but we’re sorry the fit and warmth didn’t meet your expectations. The Cormac is intended as a lightweight, quick-drying, high-output hoody, and your comments about fit and shoulder-season performance are valuable to us, and we’ve shared them with our design team. Thank you again for taking the time to leave a review.

NOT A SUN HOODIE!

not buy this if you need sun protection. Arc'teryx changed the fabric to a loose, open weave with no official UPF rating, and it completely fails as a sun hoodie. I wore this out and ended up with sunburned arms right through the material. As soon as the fabric stretches with movement or gets damp with sweat, UV rays pass straight through it. It is useless for its intended purpose now. Arc'teryx ruined a great piece of gear.

Hello there, thank you for taking the time to share this experience. We’re sorry to hear the revised Cormac Hoody didn’t provide the sun protection you were counting on. The current version is built with a highly breathable, open‑structure knit intended for high‑output activity where airflow and moisture management are the priority, and because of that construction it does not carry an official UPF rating. We understand how important reliable sun coverage is for many guests, and your feedback about fabric performance, stretch, and real‑world UV exposure will be shared directly with our product design and development teams as they continue evaluating materials and refining future iterations of the Cormac.
