The perfect duffel bag
I'm so impressed with this duffel bag. I've been primarily using it as a gym bag since getting it, but it's definitely going to be my go-to travel bag for future overnight or short trips. The bag is made from a really sturdy material (in an amazing vibrant color), and the construction feels very solid. This feels like a bag that could take a beating without ripping a seam, tearing the fabric, or jamming a zipper. Oh, how I love the zippers on this bag. Forget those flimsy little zippers on backpacks or suitcases. This is a serious zipper for a serious duffel bag. All in all, excellent bag - would recommend to friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, cashiers, etc.
Compact & Weatherproof w Awkward Straps
Overall I liked this product which I took on a weekend ski trip in Colorado. It’s a beautiful distinctive color. I’m 5’4” with a short torso. Proportionally it worked in backpack mode and as a duffel bag. I love that it stuffs itself into a small pouch. When I first opened it I had to do a bit of pulling and exploring to expand it successfully. Then I found the backpack straps at the top and carefully hidden/nested hooks at the bottom. I love the dual option mode. However I could not figure out if there is a way to hide the duffel straps when you’re in backpack mode. This bothered me a bit as I didn’t like interacting with four straps simultaneously. The bag definitely worked for a weekend getaway and a day bag while running around outside. My one other strap frustration was that because I am short, an excess of strap hung from the adjustable backpack slider. I don’t think the bag needs that much strap space and it’s unlikely to be the bag of choice for someone a foot taller than me. Because of these factors I’m most likely to use it in duffel mode. It is a quality item and I appreciate that I can store it away in a small space.
Good as a duffel, bad as a backpack
Used this for multiple weekend getaways, one by car and one by plane. I really liked the looks of the pack and and it has more than enough room for a long weekend away. I was able to fit three pairs of clothes, hoody, toiletries, my laptop and a few books in the bag without issue. Despite this, it's more-so a duffel bag with backpack straps added on as an afterthought. The backpack straps felt a bit cheap, and I found it very difficult to tuck them back into their pouch. The pack lacks any rigidity or back support so I wouldn't recommend towing it around for hours on end (i.e. no backpacking). When using as just a duffel, the backpack straps get in the way, and vise versa if you're using it as a backpack. Also, unless it's packed to the brim, expect your belongings to get shuffled around in the pack if using it as a backpack Pros: - Lightweight - Simple, sleek design - Great carry-on luggage piece, fits in overhead bins - Roomy side pockets for separating contents Cons: - Straps get in the way of each other - Lack of rigidity - Not as functional as a backpack (choose one or the other!) - No pockets/zippers for laptop or electronics - Steep price for a duffel with backpack straps
Solid little bag.
Solid little duffle bag. It’s light and holds plenty. Seems sturdy, the zippers and clips are beefy. Only has one side pocket, and the rest is just open. Only thing I don’t love is the backpack straps. They seem really tough to get in and out of their sleeves, so I don’t see myself using them very much.
Gregory 40 L Duffel
Great for travel, gym, bike, swim, gear. Well constructed, attractive aqua colour, just right size, as not too big or small. Fits on bike rack with bungi cord tie down. Reasonable price $$.
Great size and great for on the go
I love the size of this bag and love that you can convert it to a backpack style bag. The handles for the backpack tuck away well to stay out of the way when not being used. The only thing I don’t love, but is not a deal breaker, is the top zipper. I wish the bag zipped at the top to completely open up (like a U shape) instead of just a side to side opening up.
