Versatile midlayer for cragg and alpine adventures
This hoody has quickly become my go-to midlayer for both cragging and long, alpine adventures. It's incredibly lightweight and breathable, making it easy to layer over or under other pieces. The hood fits comfortably over a helmet and multiple layers, which is a big plus. I also love the color—it's stylish enough to wear around town when I'm not out in the mountains.
Great versatile soft shell
Great for summer and winter, light weight, breathable, stretchy, abrasion resistant. I wear this jacket hiking, XC skiing, climbing and running! Just bought a second color
Very comfortable soft shell jacket!
I’ve had this hoody for a few years. I’ve taken it to climb Denali and it was great! The jacket doesn’t really soak up any moisture from light precip that you might experience in places like Denali NP or the Canadian Rockies.
Downgrade from old design in every way
Writing this review so hopefully the Arcteryx team can see the consumer consensus. The Gamma SL has gotten substantially worse and is built with cheaper materials, while the price has increased. The fit is now too tight in the shoulders (I’m a swimmer/triathlete) to fit. The material is now thinner and less stuffy than my 2019/20 version. It has cheaper cuffs. The hood is less structured. And the DWR is less effective because of the thinner material. Please bring back the old design! There is nothing on the market now as good as the old model was.
Good jacket. Poor presentation
The jacket is good. But it arrived crumbled in a soft bag without any packaging nor protection. I bought it full prized, BYW
Beautiful color and excellent quality
Arc'teryx quality never disappoints. The tailoring is very flattering. This Gamma hoody is so light that it’s easy to wear for everything from daily walks to sports. Five stars! Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a versatile, lightweight softshell.
Great jacket
This a great jacket, although somewhat adjusted it’s true to size, thin and soft, breathes well. The only disadvantage is the elastic at the hem. If you size up like I did and having small hips, the elastic doesn’t hold tight. Arc’teryx should definitely rethink this, it’s a must being able to adjust your jacket as you see fit. The Gamma is not a cheap jacket, all the Atoms which are in the same price range have a drawstring at the hem.
Almost perfect
I wanted this to work so badly but not having a draw cord to adjust the waist hem was a huge deal breaker for me. I really dislike when jackets hang over my hips when I'm active and the lack of an adjustable waist hem cord creates this situation. Bummer because everything else about it was exactly what I was looking for
Great SPF
Sun and wind protection works very well! Wore it for hours to protect me from the sun at 35+ degrees celsius and have no complaints. Also doesn’t trap the heat

Not thick material, perfect for a hot weather. The overall quality is good, light color can get dirty pretty fast though if not careful.
