I know I only need one but I want more!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Obsessed with this bag! Use it from everything to ice climbing adventures, winter camping day bag, and even paddle boarding. I 100 percent trust that the bag will keep my stuff dry and it has not failed me yet.
Perfect Ski Mountaineering / Alpine Climbing Pack
If you add the Oloss ski carry accessory this has everything I need in an alpine pack and nothing I don't. Love the light weight, the ability to carry 30L fully contained or 40L with the top extended. Trim size makes moving with it easy. No brain and a drawcord main closure means it's super fast to get into the pack, but the roll top extension collar makes it possible to take a little more time and seal the elements out. Also like the flexibility of inverting the extension collar into the pack, closing the roll top there to keep contents below dry while allowing fast access to other items on top of the roll top but below the draw string closure. I just need the side compression straps from the Oloss kit to manage extra gear on the approach, carry skis when I have those, or compress the load against my back for the crux section.
Best 30 L pack out there!
There is so much to like about this pack. First, is size. It fills a perfect spot for alpine travel and sport climbing. I might even try to get in an overnight with the expandable top. Second, if you pack this right, it is remarkably comfortable. Shoulder straps are the best of any pack of this size. Third, the fabric weight and durability are remarkable. Fourth, the thing has almost all you need and nothing you don't. I wish Arc'teryx would put a simple hook inside to clip a water bag, but I just tried out their water bottle shoulder thingy and that works like a charm so maybe no need for the inner clip. It is pricey but if you use it a lot, more than worth it.
The Pack ….. the one.
30 litre, talk+slim pack, clean, light, waterproof, great shoulder strap and waistbelt design / layout. Neither the material of the pack, nor the straps gums u with snow … all in all a great pack! I’m replacing exactly the same pack that i’ve kicked around the mountains for literally hundreds of days summer and winter and has stood up wonderfully. If i could suggest two small design changes: = slightly larger (maybe bellowed) pocket = easy quick lid for proper-rain waterproofness. I find the drybag style roll-to-seal design too fiddley for regular use. AND, please make this same design in 55L Thank you !
Amazing Pack!
This pack is rad. I've enjoyed taking this pack on numerous ice climbing and mountaineering adventures. As a guide, I spend 50+ days in the field ice climbing and I've enjoyed the Alpha FL 30 as my go to. It's lightweight, waterproof, fits great, doesn't knock your helmet when you look up, and folds down small to be comfortable climbing with it on. I do enjoy the simplistic design but would ask for straps on the side to tighten a rope down with, independent clips for ice axes to fit more smoothly, and the potential to have a removable brain with a helmet attachment. Other than that, this pack is awesome and I will continue to use it as my go-to pack on alpine and ice adventures!
Simple clean design
After an alpine climbing summer I really like this pack. * This is a no frills simple backpack that is waterproof. * Size is "large" for the 30l * No significant wear noticed * Ice-ax fasteners and bunge cord for poles or crampons Potential drawbacks - If you fill the 2 small pockets with stuff they "restrict" the access to the large compartment (don't have a solution for that)
Superlight, comfortable pack
Superlight pack that has the pure essentials, great for climbing, you keep full range of movement of your arms. Also great for multi-day hiking trips if you want to focus on being fast and light and don't need the extra pockets. Material feels durable, and you could tell they put a lot of thought into making it comfortable and look great, very Arcteryx-esque. Would recommend!
Great all around climbing pack
I bought this pack for multipitch ice climbing, there is enough space to carry all my insulation layers and gear. This pack doubles as a great climbing pack with lots of space and a streamlined shape so I don’t feel like I’m carrying a bulky pack. I made some modifications for varying ice tools that were easily added with the existing straps on the pack.
Simple, robust and comfortable!
I have this bag pack using in the Eiger Nordwand, multi-day skimo trips, to put all my climbing gear when ascending to the climbing Craig, for traveling in the plane and many more occasions - it's simple, super robust and comfortable to wear. The only thing is that I would prefer some super simple pockets on the front...
Light weight
Very light weight, comfortable but kind of hard for storage. You have to be pretty dialed in with the way you pack with this bag. The material is ok.
