Not enough cushion
Recently purchased and want to return it, the cushion is not enough where it is supposed to be, I feel lots of pain in the crotch area after doing a 30 miles bike, don’t recommend this product
Leg Grippers Do Not Grip
I have been wearing Pearl Izumi cycling shorts for 25+ years. I always buy the short inseam because of my short legs. I bought this pair a week ago and was excited to have new shorts to ride in. Not 3 pedal strokes in and the legs rode completely up my thighs. The grippers did NOTHING to prevent it, despite me trying to yank them back down into place several times. I did the entire ride with the skin on my thighs rubbing the saddle and chafing. It's a shame because the overall fit and padding seemed decent enough. What a waste of a lot of money!
Poor quality, small pad
Wow, this is bad quality. Seems not well sewn, pad much thinner than previous editions. I bought pearl izumi shorts in 2020 and 2021 and they were way higher quality. Returning these. Disappointing. Also their sizing has changed and runs truer to size. Pad was small in addition to being thin and with the size I bought being too large, ended up just giving me a wedgie. Very narrow width on butt bone padding, a good 4-6 inches too narrow for me.
Not as good as before
So disappointed! I agree with previous reviewers that the pad is too narrow. I bought these same shorts a couple years ago and the previously purchased are my favorite cycling shorts I own. This current edition is 1.25 inches narrower width on the pad (got out the ol' measuring tape). The padding isn't even under my sit bones! Points for becoming more true to size, Pearl Izumi, but women's sit bones aren't just getting narrower... Can't use these.
Cushion isn’t what it used to be
I have an older pair of these same model shorts that has almost double the cushion. Idk what happened with their manufacturing but these are not as comfortable as they used to be. Noticed almost immediately, and on top of that they changed the sizing. My older pair of the supposed same model and in-seam is a medium, while this one I purchased is an XL. They fit the same.
These would be great if they didn't ride up!
I wanted to love these cycling shorts! The chamois is much more comfortable than my other cycling shorts (REI co-op brand) as it covers more than simply the crotch area. The massive downside of these shorts is that they do not effectively stay in place as I ride. They continuously ride up the thigh as you bike, resulting in a very uncomfortable rubbing that would only lead to bad chafing. This would be less of an issue if they were a bit longer. I will return these and purchase a set that has a longer inseam.
Insufficient Pad, but great length for short girls
I really like the length of these as a short person/5'2". I did not experience issues with these riding up. However, I wish the band was a bit higher but, more than anything, the chamois pad is insufficient. It is a bit thin, but really starts too far back. But for that, I'd keep these -- but they're going back. The shorter length earned the extra star.
Returned for more cushion
Provides no cushion where it's necessary. It has a lot of cushion high on the rear and minimal between the legs. Tighter fit than I expected and an unflattering length. The pockets were nice and the waistband did not roll.
Comfortable short biking shorts
Contrary to reviews I read, these short stay in place and have good padding. I have worn them only for mountain biking so I don’t know how they would do on a long road ride. I am 5’6 and 118lbs and the xs fit perfectly.
Too Short
I wanted to like these, but they are just too short. I didn't have the same issues with the shorts riding up my thighs like others did, but they are about an inch too short, which causes my inner thighs to rub against the seat when I'm pedaling. Too much rubbing, and it causes chaffing within miles.
