I’ve noticed the good stuff at BD goes quickly so I nabbed this Solution merino because the rose was available. It has more of a merino feel than competitors’ and exceeds my expectations. It has beautifully contoured seams so will replace my worn, ancient merino to carry instead of a fleece on summer mountain trips. I am 5’4” 36C and love BD women’s cuts that lay just right over more developed lats and shoulders. It has only slightly long sleeves for me. The cuffs are flat (with thumb loop) so fold up fine. Well worth the investment and I may pick a black one up later.
Fit: seems to fit true to size. (Not sure if something changed but in the past a lot of Black Diamond's clothing has been too long for me). Fabric: not bulky but still relatively warm and breathable. I bought the Solution 150 leggings last year and came to really like them and bought 2 more pairs. They became my go-to for backcountry skiing, inbound skiing, and alpine climbing. They are so comfortable that I unknowingly started wearing them in replacement of all other long underwear, so now I've started buying the crew tops as well. They also fit under street clothes reasonably well for the colder winter days.
I always struggle finding shirts with long enough sleeves for my noodle arms (6’0) and this one is perfect! There’s even thumb holes that work and don’t pull the sleeves too tight. I would love for the body to be slightly more fitted, but I got my long sleeves so I’m thankful for that.
Ordered this crew and the matching leggings for a base layer this winter. Took both the crew and the leggings backpacking this weekend and they kept me warm in the chilly mountain evenings and mornings and were breathable while hiking in the evening. Will definitely purchase more!
This crew keeps me warm, hiking when the weather is in the high teens and warmer. I haven't owned it long enough to say whether or not it's durable but it is well made. It hasn't shrunk in the wash. I'm 5'3", 105-lbs. I bought a small but should've bought an xs.
I bought a few of these at this point and loved them so much. From multi-day ski trips to casual runs in the cold, this layer stays warm, dry, and most importantly stink-free. I will keep on buying these for a long time.
This seems to be pretty warm and do the trick as a base layer, however I would love for this shirt to be longer. A girl still wants to look cute in the backcountry and this cut could be more flattering.
Perfect base layer for alpine environment on a warmer day. Didn't stretch out after a week of daily wear and minimal odor. Can't recommend these enough! 5'5, 145lbs, purchased small top, medium bottom
Slim, but comfortable fit. Nice long sleeves and trunk (I am 5' 11 and have long arms, wear a large). Like the color. My new go to shirt for layering outdoors and wearing as a top indoors.
This is a great base layer thickness, color and fit. I thought it was going to be a little chilly when I felt how light it was, but after the first wear, I’m hooked!
