[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great addition to Brooks’ line of trail shoes. It is responsive and cushioned, but not so cushioned that you lose energy into the ground. There is good room in the toe box. The upper is breathable and allows water to escape if you submerge. I wore these mostly in mud and snow and they are one of the best shoes I’ve worn in those conditions. The built in gator kept everything out of the shoe. I ran 32 miles in these my third time wearing them and I had ZERO foot issues. The one negative for me is that I feel they are slightly short for the size. I was wearing size 8, but I’d probably size up 1/2 size in the future. I was sent this product as a complimentary sample.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Cascadia Elite was EXACTLY the long-distance racer I've been looking for. There's no part of the shoe I can criticize from the stretchy heel collar to the Vibram Lite-Base outsole. The upper provides a lockdown that's secure yet comfort-oriented. The midsole has enough bounce to propel you in your smoother trail miles while remaining stable enough (due to the wide platform) to handle the majority of terrain you'll encounter in an ultramarathon. The forefoot maintains some flexibility which helps with slower and steeper miles - something not many trail supershoes can claim. That's right - the Cascadia Elite still feels great even when you're exploring your pain cave deep into an ultra.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So far so good on a first impression, meets all my needs in a trail shoe but please a not so loud color, that is why 4 stars. I would never buy a shoe just because of the color but if it meets my running needs I guess I have to overlook the color.
Darn it! I bought these to do at least 100miles of Cocodona 250 after reading all of the rave reviews. I didn't see any reviews mentioning tight sizing, except for Humble Running on Youtube, who characterized these as being more "fitted." Perhaps I could get away with this sizing and fit for a 50k, but no way I could go further without completely jacking up my feet. I normally wear a size 13D, however, I would need a 14D in these shoes for a longer ultra..... Too bad I don't even see a size 14 in inventory anywhere. Not even sure if Brooks makes a size 14 in this shoe.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I’ve worn the Cascadia Elite shoes on several runs totaling about 20 miles so far. I’ve used them on dirt and gravel trails with a few road segments mixed in. Overall, they performed really well across both surfaces. During my trail runs, I felt great response with every stride. It honestly felt like the energy I was putting in was coming right back to me. I’m coming back from a minor injury, so I was paying close attention to how they felt, and they did justice to me. A few days ago I was even able to PR on a 10 mile run, which says a lot about how confident and supported I felt in them. The features that stood out most to me were the traction and overall stability. The grip on dirt and gravel felt secure, especially when picking up the pace. These shoes have the responsiveness and stability needed for longer efforts, and they feel built for runners who want both speed and control on mixed terrain. I also really liked the ankle gaiter brace. It wraps well and kept debris out, so I did not have to worry about rocks getting inside during trail sections. The grip on the laces is another bonus. Once tied, they stay put. I did not have to worry about them loosening mid run. As for fit and sizing, the shoe felt true to size. The fit is snug and secure without feeling overly tight. That said, for longer runs I might consider going up half a size next time just for a little extra room. Overall, this shoe feels designed for runners who want a responsive, stable option for longer runs and mixed terrain efforts, especially if you are pushing pace and want that energy return with solid traction.
I bought these shoes from a different retailer because I had a gift card. The negative reviews are insane and petty. These are amazing shoes. They do fit tight, probably go up a half size. This shoe will be "trail running shoe of the year " by most magazines and websites.
Similar to another reviewer, I bought these with the intention of using them in an upcoming ultra. Unfortunately, the sizing runs small and the 13 is the largest size offered. Virtually every brand maps a size 13 to a size 48, though Brooks is at 47.5.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I wore these shoes during trail runs with changes in elevation, and varied technicality. The shoe was responsive, springy, and cushion without feeling stacked, which I really liked. I liked the ankle sock feature, that acts like a built in gator. The shoe fits true to size, not narrow and had room in the toe box.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Please make these in smaller sizes!! I’m a W 5.5 and was so excited for these..
