Roomy fit, airy pockets
Great quality. It's nice to have a lightweight polyester shell option, to layer over cotton and polyester with less static than I get with nylon. It's better for me over a fleece than the Houdini jacket, which is nylon. I still like that as a shell over wool/hemp/cotton. This jacket is about 150% the volume of a Houdini, and heavier at 228g vs 128g for the Houdini (both men's L). It's a very roomy fit. I'm 5' 10", 170# and the L is pretty loose. Without the drawcord hem, would be way too big. But I'll be using it as a packable shell layer, so I don't mind the space - either over insulation or for more air circulation. I would probably have enough room in the M for some layering, so I might have chosen that if I had it to do over again, to save a bit of weight. This jacket would be 5*, but for the wide-open mesh behind the pockets. There isn't a zipper to close them to the wind. I appreciate the ventilation, but for me not being able to close them is a bummer. But yeah, low weight so I get it.
Great windbreaker.
I've worn this a couple times now on cool, breezy days. It did the job. It is a big enough to wear over a sweater on a colder day. The main benefit is it keeps the wind out. I got warm later in the day and stuffed it into the pocket. Nice color too (light blue)
It’s light and it’s variable
Really like this jacket! Thicker than the Houdini, did a good job at blocking out the wind. If you’re not heavily layering underneath, it’s going to be big. I normally wear a medium but returned it for a small because it was too oversized for me. Impressed with how small and light it packs down.
