Salewa footwear fits true to size and runs from medium to slightly narrow in width. For Mountaineering boots, Salewa recommends sizing up one half size to ensure comfort on long descents.
Salewa’s Alpine Fit incorporates a unique climbing lacing system that offers a large range of adjustability. To ensure a proper fit, Salewa recommends opening all laces through the forefoot as wide as possible before adjusting to your comfort, starting at the toes.

After struggling with Achilles tendinopathy for over a year, I had to size up my climbing and approach shoes to a larger size to avoid irritation. For context, my feet are on the wider side, and I use men's La Sportiva Ultraraptors as my usual go-to trail shoe. PROS - The lugs are helpful for extra traction on snow, mud, and scree. - I wore these for a 12 hour trail/alpine traverse day on terrain up to mid-5th class with no irritation. - They climb well on friction slab. CONS - On the flip side, a few times the softer lugs made it hard to extract my foot after I jammed it into a crack versus other flatter lugged shoes I own. - The shoe laces are far too fragile for an approach shoe. After a single day, they are starting to fray.
It's very rare that I find a shoe that fits the width of my feet pretty much out of the box, but these shoes did it. Love that the laces give some climbing shoe aesthetics, but still very practical and comfortable to wear. I had very little break in time with them and the fit feels true to my usual hiking size (10). My only 2 downsides to this shoe: 1. The heel slips more than I would like and I haven't figured out how to lace to prevent that yet. But also, it hasn't *really* created issues for my comfort yet. 2. They aren't waterproof. I just really love a waterproof shoe so I can easily stomp through creeks but some spray on helps.
Not yet testing the wild but just purchased these in store in a half size down from my normal size and they were still very roomy. Seemed exceptionally suited for my slightly narrow medium arch foot. Super comfortable right out of the box and I tried them out all around the store. The lacing system seems nice for customizing your fit. I’m a very true 8.5 and tend to size yo at least a half size for hikers but the 8 seems perfect. Excited to break these in and get out with them on the white mountains. Uppers feel sturdy but comfortable. Will come back if I’m anything less than thrilled to update this! I also personally feel they look more stylish than your average hikers.
The material and workmanship was great, but they run way too narrow in the toes. I had ordered my usual size, but it was way too small overall. Then I ordered another one two sizes larger, but even the larger one was too tight in the toe area. The heel was nice and narrow, which was good for my foot, but the toe shape made me have to return both of them.
