Finally, a food jar

Another awesome product from yeti. It's truly leak-proof, keeps the contents hot/cold for hours, and very easy to clean. The lid is two parts and it was tricky at first getting the vent section out but you just need to keep unscrewing the top half of the lid until the bottom half is completely off. One improvement I hope they make: the lid can be a bit difficult to get off after sitting with hot contents; some soft finger grooves/bevels in the lid would help. One personal preference I hope they'll consider: make a 10 or 12oz size. 8oz is just a tad small and the next size (16oz) is too large. Still 5 stars and I'll be buying more.

Awesome!

Soooo I have both jars in each size. I love them.!They were purchased for my son’s lunch. He is the kid that has to have hot lunch everyday. These jars are fantastic! The food that he leaves behind after lunch is still warm when I pick him up from school at the end of the day 3pm. Mind you his lunch is at 11 am. everyday. So if your wondering he is 9 years old and he has all yeti products backpack, Tumbler, food jars (2h and the lunch kit. All are fantastic!

tricky lil bugger but it works

As soon as I brought it home, I was unable to disassemble so I can wash it. I thought it was broke. I tried several times, and just as I was getting ready to make the drive back to REI, I decided to YouTube its functions. Lo and behold, I realized through the YouTube content that to open it properly you must push down as you continue to twist off as you would a bottle of medication. Double edge sword if this purchase is for a child, because he or she will now have knowledge how to open a pill bottle container. Just sayin… there’s that. I digress though, I do like it, and will look to purchase the next size up to complete my meal prep containers for work. I actually do recommend. Oh, forgot to mention… I’ve yet to put food in it so I don’t know how well it keeps anything at the temperature you seek. But I already have another yeti for my coffee/tea… I imagine it operates the same. So folks go get yours if you’ve not already.

Needs improvement

I wanted to love this. I love yeti products. First off there’s no guidelines on how long it will keep food hot or cold. No where. Not in the FAQ or in the chat/pictures nothing. So I tried it out. I put hot food in it and left in there for 3 hours and it was cold. I did everything that was directed and it didn’t even do the basic thing as advertised. The quality feels nice but the outcome isn’t worth it.

Lid is a poor design

The food jar only holds 8oz though it has a 2-piece lid that takes up A LOT of space and both pieces are required so the unit does not leak. The 2-piece lid makes it next to impossible for a 10-year-old to open so definitely not good for youngsters. My opinion is that Yeti just over-engineered this product. I love Yeti products but this one because of the lid assembly just does not make it practical.

Nice, but heavy and doesn't hold much.

I want to like this little guy. The price was nice, but it is very heavy and the lid is almost half of the container. It just doesn't hold much. I tried to get a small baked potato in it and had to cut some out to fit. I bought the smaller one because space is an issue in my son's backpack. I didn't realize it would weigh so much too. Overall, nice idea but we can't really use it.

School lunches & beyond

I love the size/colour of these insulated food jar. I purchased them as a replacement for my grandchildren when there was another type of product recall of another brand. They use them for their school lunches. For me it is learning how to open the lid as I now have arthritis developing in my thumbs. However my other family members had no issue.
