Finally...Climbing shoes that are decently wide!
I have wide feet (EE-EEE size) and it's always been very painful trying on most climbing shoes. These are actually one of the very few that feel wide, yet tight at the tip of the toes. I do wish climbing shoes had wide sizes but for now...this will do. The Luchadors fit well too but I like having a more aggressive shoe as it really helps with tiny toe holds. For sizing, I normally wear 9.5 shoes. For these shoes, I'll end up around 11/11.5 probably. Take that sizing with a grain of salt thought because wide feet distorts everything...

Amazing shoes - except for the stank foot
Okay - I really hope I am not the only one in this boat. So let's start with the good. Amazing. Shoes. Hands. Down. The separated sole creates a wonderfully aggressive shoe without the consistent arch cramping. I can spend hours in these shoes and not get uncomfortable. The toes are strong, the heel cup keeps your foot in place, and the thick plush topper is actually really nice on the foot. The more you wear them the better they get. I also have hobbit feet and they fit me PERFECTLY. Wonderfully wide and grippy. That's the positive. Which in retrospect is 99.9% of why you'd buy this shoe. BUT - the stank foot. I've never had a pair of climbing shoes smell so bad. I am thinking that it is the synthetic toe-protector inside the shoe that tends to soak it up and not wick the moisture. But - I can't bring them in the house. I can't ride home in my car with the windows up. After wearing them, I need to clean my feet immediately...otherwise you can smell them from across the room. I don't get it. I've tried everything. And I just recently had to get a toothbrush and clean/scrub the insides with non-caustic detergent and warmish water to get some of the smell out. It's bananas. As long as you're alright smelling like a garbage truck, then these shoes are totally for you. Even if you aren't cool with that, these shoes are likely still for you. Great all purpose shoes. Bad smell.

Awesome Improvements!

I was a fan of the previous Shaman and used it on most of my harder climbing outdoors, but would usually shift to something with more rubber coverage and sensitivity for training and indoor climbing. The new Shaman feels like a perfect balance and is now the go-to shoe for ALL of my climbing! Significantly lighter and still supportive in the front, "love bump" definitely puts the toe in direct pulling position, and the change in the toe-patch and front strap make this great for hard toe-hooks. Sized the exact same as the previous version, and feels comfortable out of the box. Could go down a 1/2 size if you like your performance shoes to feel tight, but I think they perform great when sized comfortably!

Wide feet rejoice!

I picked the shamans up at my gym during a great sale. These are my first aggressive shoes and I'm in love. I tried a half size down from my street and couldn't fit at all. Tossed on my street shoe size and, while I could get in, they were painful. Went a half size up and could deal with the discomfort. After two weeks they've broken in amazingly. These things are great for wide feet. They're comfortable, I only have to pop my heel after five or six climbs. Whatever my foot touches I stick to, which is a great change of pace from some beginner shoes I picked up to ram around in. They don't hold my foot stank like the leather shoes I have do. And I hear you can throw them in a washing machine.

Great All around climbing shoe

I was afraid that these were not going to be great for long days climbing because of how aggressive they were but I was wrong. After breaking these shoes in, I have no complaints. The rubber on these shoes are phenomenal and stick to everything. FYI, you can buy a size to be comfortable out of the box but you will regret it. Get the half size down from the street shoe. Once these are broken in, they will stretch almost a half size. It will be a little uncomfortable during the break in period. Then they will fit perfect. These are my favorite pair of shoes to climb in.

Female but loving the men’s version

My holy grail of shoes is the old version of the female solution (size 38) but the new model doesn’t fit me well so I’ve been looking for a new go-to. I wear a woman’s 9 and purchased a 7.5 in these. Once I received them and tried them on, I literally called REI within 5 minutes to see if they had a bigger size because they felt so tight. I think it’s just been a while since I purchased new aggressive shoes and forgot how painful the process is, but thankfully I did stick with these and now they fit perfectly. I love the wider fit to them and the lower cut to the shoes. I see myself buying many, many more of these guys.

Perfect fit for me!

I walked into REI today with an open mind and tried on every single climbing shoe they had, including the new Shamans. Though I never owned a pair of the previous model, I did hear/read plenty of bad reviews. Of all the shoes I tried on, this was genuinely the best fit for me. Ultimately, this may not be the right shoe for you, but I definitely recommend you don't overlook it because of it's predecessor. Good stuff, Evolv! I will definitely drop by with another review once they've been thoroughly broken in.

Perfect for my duck feet

Absolute perfection. I have small, but relatively wide feet, asymmetrical shape, and they fit perfect. They're just aggressive enough to give me that little bit of extra, but the split sole allows my foot to relax. I know that there's no such thing as an all- around shoe, but if I had to pick one that I could climb all day in, but wear on my project tomorrow, this would be it.

I Love the old Shamans... I ADORE these bad boys!

I bought these amazing shoes yesterday at my local REI and brought them out to the mountains behind my house. At my bouldering area I slipped them on and I was hooked on how good they felt on my foot. They are very comfortable and easy to work with for such an aggressive shoe. The middle adjustment strap really helps pull in the arch of the shoe to get you that nice complete molded shape. I also love how much room is in the knuckle-box compared to the previous Shaman. Evolv really hit the sweet spot for me in climbing shoes. The "Love Bump" is also so helpful taking all that dead space under you toes and making the shoe even more comfortable to wear. One thing that kind of bothered me was that your first time wearing them won't be so comfortable but I slipped on a soft pair of cotton-lined socks and the comfort was actually boosted to a more soft inner shoe. These shoes also handle foot odor way better than I expected. The material inside the shoe is very good at making the smell smaller and keeping things fresh. Overall this shoe is the best shoe out there for those who want a shoe that is really aggressive without sacrificing the best comfortability. I would totally have these as my main shoe for Bouldering, Sport Climbing and Trad.

Great all around

These bad boys are great for bouldering and sports climbing. They are aggressive but extremely comfortable. They broke in within a month.

A very good shoe.

I have been bouldering with the La Sportiva Solutions for 5 years or so. Unfortunately with the poor canadian dollar the solutions are getting very expensive. These shoes are pretty close as far as the climbing experience but considerably less money. I can't say how the soles will last but so far so good. I would buy these shoes again.
