Perfect daypack for an all day hike
I love Osprey packs, and this one is no exception. It's just the right size for a hike that lasts all day, with room for snacks and some basic gear I like to have for "just in case". Which can be needed pretty frequently when the hiker in question is terminally clumsy...lol. It stays comfortable all day, and is super cute. Super cute isn't a necessity in my gear, but it's always a nice perk. The only thing that keeps this pack from being 5 stars is that the water side mesh pockets are a little hard to reach on the move. I generally prefer water bottles to a hydration bladder, so this can be a bit of a pain. But not enough of one to stop me using the pack.

Great, but...
So, these other reviews being so high? C'mon folks. I love Osprey and this bag is almost freaking perfect. But those side pockets? They are completely worthless. I've not found a single item, water bottle, snacks, keys, earphones, etc. that will stay in. Whatever you put in, it's gonna fall out.

Great with a small adjustment

I thought I would have to return this bc like many reviews the back piece was hitting my neck and was so uncomfortable. My husband had the idea to clip it down with the bladder clip and after that is was great. I didn’t have any issues with my 28oz body armor bottle falling out of the side pockets. I could see that being a problem with skinnier bottles. This is the perfect size for day hiking!

Osprey needs a swift kick

I’ve been looking for a non-descript light daypack that will work for a variety of missions. I compared the Daylight and the Plus, but I’m not taking an iPad or PC on my day trips so this is about perfect. However, after reading review after review complaining about the side mesh pockets not securely holding water bottles and most anything else, as well as the lack of exterior loops to clip a few things, it is beyond me that Osprey has not paid attention and cleaned these items up to make this daypack a true winner. I bought it anyway because I got 20% off and now I can be as grumpy as the other reviewers. Osprey...wake up and smell the cofee!

easy fix for loose side pocket

This is a great lightweight backpack. Not too much space but perfect size for day trips or using it around Disney. I was hesitant because of the negative reviews about the side mesh pockets being too loose for holding water bottles, etc. I found a quick and cheap solution: buy bungee cord shoelaces with the adjustable plastic locks and weave it through the mesh material. You can cut the string and weave the two pieces through the mesh on either side of the pocket where they meet in the middle, then attach the plastic lock so you can tighten it like a pair of shoes. Less than $10 from amazon and easy to fix. Other than that, it’s a great bag

my go-to

I bought this pack in December 2017 for day hikes. 2 1/2 years later and it's still going strong. This thing is so comfy and is the PERFECT size for carrying all of your essentials for hiking in the back country (emergency kit, first aid kit, water filter, extra layers...I can fit so much in this). Be careful not to overstuff it or it'll sort of ball up on your back. I have no issues with my water bottles, but I do need to use the compression straps to secure them (I take my hydroflask). They'd definitely fall out if not for that. I throw this thing all over the place and it's still in great shape - zippers work perfectly, no rips or tears.

Just the essentials

The Daylite is almost the perfect bag for a day hike. I was looking for something around the 14L mark and this fit the bill. All I wanted to be able to carry was a rain coat, my hammock and suspension, and snacks while still having an integrated hydration option. And this is perfect for that. Still has some space leftover inthe main pocket. The only thing I wish it had was hip strap pockets. It's a small detail and obviously wasn't a deal breaker. And I have to admit after using it on a number of hikes that they hip belt actually does a better job stabilizing the bag than I expected consideringhow thin it is.

Great small day pack.

This is a great smaller bag for day hikes, Just big enough to carry everything you need for a long 12hr hike. I can fit my down jacket, plenty of water, gloves, lunch, knife, sunglasses case and still not have to cram things too tight. The pack has a nice ballance between rigidity and light weight with a foam backing to give some stiffness. Two internal sections help to organize everything and smaller mesh pockets keep small items easily accesable. There is a space for a bladder, nice zipper pulls, and comfortable shoulder straps appropriately sized for the weight of the bag.

Didn't Work Out

In theory this backpack was just what I was looking for - lightweight, held a water bladder, perfect for casual hikes. It didn't even bother me that, yes as everyone has mentioned, you cannot carry a water bottle in these side pockets. When I took it out for a hike I realized almost immediately something about the fit was off. I tried every adjustment possible and I could not get the side straps (specifically around where they adjust) to stop rubbing against my inner arms as I walked. It was very annoying and on a longer hike would have resulted in an even more annoying rash. Had to return.

Versatile, comfortable. Great Daypack

I bought this bag 5 months ago looking for a lightweight comfortable pack that I could take for day hikes. This bag is it. I love that the hydration pack can fit 2L bladder comfortably even with the pack filled. The hip straps are very comfortable, as well as the shoulder straps. My favorite part is that my husband and I have an 18 inch difference in height and he is able to use I comfortably too! Typically we have a hard time finding a product adjusts to both our heights. I highly recommend this daylight!

Nice, useful daypack

Scoutmaster - I bought this pack for Boy Scout Camp in the Davis Mountains. Good price; constructed very well; it carried all the gear I needed to carry each day; super comfy during hikes; I would've liked it to have a couple loops for attaching items to exterior.
