not durable
I bought this hat about a year and a half ago, and about a year in some of the stitching started to come out. Given the way the hat is constructed plus the fact that it started to come out around one of the eyelets that the chin strap goes through, it's almost impossible to sew up properly. I wear it on a regular basis but am not particularly rough with it so I'm surprised it started to fall apart so quickly. Though I also had a similar issue with another Sunday Afternoons hat about a year into owning it - the wire that held the shape of the brim started to poke through the fabric and come out, again with no way to fix it. So it seems these hats have an expiration date of about a year before something starts to go wrong. Technically they both still work as sun protection but they both look pretty rough at this point, like I've had them for a decade rather than a couple of years. I like the styles, but nothing I can't find elsewhere, so I'll be steering clear of the brand from now on.
Shady on the underside
First off, my wife has never been a sun hat type of girl. After working out in the sun with a ball cap several weeks running. We opted for a full brim top to add to her work wear. She loves natural fiber look and the wire brim option which allows her to style to the day. The ties are nice for keeping it down when the wind picks up, or riding the tractor in transport. It's definitely more along the lines of a sun hat in its appearance with the brim unfolded. A little more on the floppy side, but as pictured...it does a nice impression of a cowboy hat...but probably wouldn't pass at a honky-tonk ; ) It provides some welcome relief on those long hot days running the property. It will be nice having the added protection when we are on the river, lake or beach as well.

I like this hat but I have a smallish head and it’s a bit too large. It rests on top of my head okay though. I like how the rim is shape able. It’s a bit heavier than I’d like to take with me for backpacking.
