I just wore these on a week-long winter hiking trip through southern Utah and the Grand Canyon. They held up great. I really like the pocket sizes and locations. The material is very comfy and flexible. I typically wear slim-sized pants; these are a little baggy, but that's what you want for hiking pants. And they aren't overly baggy: the legs were not rubbing up against each other like ski pants would. I also sprayed mine with DWR beforehand, and that worked pretty good when I was hiking through rain for an hour. And on one day I zipped off the bottoms to make them into shorts, and that worked great too. Overall I am very pleased with them.
I purchased this just prior to a trek in Peru. I wore them on the flight there, 2 days in Cusco and for five days of trekking. Then I washed them. They were perfect for the varied climate between the high Andes and the lower cloud forest. Very quick to dry while hanging in the window of our hotel in Aquas Calientes. My only concern with them is that the zipper on the convertible pant legs seems a little small and delicate-wondering how it will hold up over time. All other fasteners and zippers seem beefy enough to last the 10 years that my MH pants (which these replaced) did.
I originally bought these pants to wear in camping. I decide to wear them one day after I bought them to see if there was any chaffing issues or digging in at the waist seems. There was none. What I did find out was that Women really dig these pants. I had about a dozen women make comments to me about my pants that day. I even got a few cat calls from a couple of moms pushing strollers. When I went to dinner that evening with friends, the waitress was all into my pants. She wanted to know where I had got them, and thought they were rugged and good looking. She said she much more preferred a man in these, than seeing guys with man buns wearing Lululemon yoga pants.
I hike more than 450 miles each year, so that means my thighs are the size of large watermelons and my claves are the size of cantaloupes. I’ve struggled for years to find pants that fit over my thighs comfortably. Hiking pants for men do not have hardly any stretch. I stopped by my local REI and expressed my desire to get new pants. After trying all the major brands, I found that KUHL Renegade pants are by far the absolute most comfortable hiking pants I’ve ever owned. KUHL put spandex in these pants and the stretch factor is exactly where it needs to be. These pants are made for someone who does hike and has the legs to prove it. Overall, they are comfortable, light weight, not too hot, dry fast, and have plenty of pockets. You won’t be disappointed in their performance.
I've never been a zip off pants dork until by brother gave me an old pair of REI zip offs he found at a thrift store, I literally wore them till they fell off my body. I shopped every know design before I bought these and they are hands down the best pants I have ever owned. What do I do with them? Long distance bike touring to start with, live on a sailboat and they are also my go to sailing pants, hiking and backpacking and generally just chilling. They are stylish enough that I can transition straight from the field to the resort I work at two days a week and comefort? They are a ten. Stretchy, water resistant and built for the back country I would and do wear these anywhere and everywhere. one last little tidbit, I have had quite a few compliments on how well they look on the backside from the ladies so yes, there you have it, form and function all wrapped up in a neat little package. Like the title says, just buy them, my name I said Stormy and I approve this product.
My husband LOVES his pants. They're water proof, durable, lightweight and stretchy. Changes into shorts is a total bonus . He has never splurged $100 on pants before until now, and there are no regrets. He tints windows and installs clear bra along with installing any other car audio systems. These pants allow him to get wet, dry quickly, and isn't restricting as he bends and squats all day long. We go camping at least twice a year and these pants are perfect for those weekends as well. He even bought a pair for his business partner.
A great pair of pants/ shorts. The spandex material gives nicely and makes hikes and scrambles much more comfortable without the binding and pinching of some other shorts. Legs zip off/on easily and zippers nicely hidden. Great at wicking away sweat too. Having said that, not a good pair for social settings where leaving sweat on a seat may leave you feeling embarrassed. Otherwise, love these!!!
I bought these pants and the tags said 34 x 32, which were the same size as other Kuhl pants - including the same "full fit" reference on another pair of Kuhl's I purchased at REI. Unfortunately I was too stupid to try them on in the store, and proceeded to take them home where I found out they were too tight. Love the pants, just have to get a bigger size.
I bought these pants because of the pant/shorts convertible. More importantly Kuhl has that special feature on how the zippers are lined to convert to shorts. Really comfortable and light weight. Many pockets make it easy for day to day wear and on the mountain. About to take these down to Santa Cruz for a 3 day hike. Post an update when I get back!
I wear shorts year round, but when it rains and is cold it's nice to have the option to zip the legs on. Good fit, comfortable material. Not the best for riding my bike to work, but no pair of shorts is perfect. All in all I would give then a solid 8 out of 10, only because they kinda bunch up in the crotch when I ride my Mtn bike.
