It might work for you, but it does not for me.
Would be a good product if you never have to get off your bike. I have purchased two of these and broken them within minutes of use.I will not purchase another one again because by simply getting off/on the bike, the action of my leg sweeping over the rear tire to get on/off the bike breaks it. I am going to be trying the Mud Rocker one. I have a full suspension mtn bike. Perhaps if there was a spring loaded ball-socket joint that 'breaks away' instead if it breaking? Would fix the problem. But then again, that would not be good for business, yeah?
Kept my backside about 90% dryer
Installed on giant e-trance with dropper post. Took it on first ride today in snowy/slushy and I stayed relatively dry! Only problem I had was kicking it when getting on the bike. Maybe practicing yoga would help this.
AVOID IF WEARING BAGGING SHORTS!
I bought one and used it for a few weeks before losing it. Bought another one and this one has fallen off 3 or 4 times. Luckily, I noticed fairly quickly and retraced my route and found it this time.I tried tightening the strap even more. The last time it happened, I actually felt it fall off; the clip was catching on my bagging shorts as I slid my bum forward exiting the "downhill" position. The lever on the strap sticks out too much creating the opportunity for it to catch on your shorts and open resulting in instant loss of fender.
extremely thin plastic
I will say before I start my tirade that I've owned many sks products and been completely happy with them. the predecessor to this product is well made and designed and i will most likely be stealing the one I gave to my dad back from him if they've discontinued it. I owned this for less than three hours and it made it in my bike for 20 or so minutes before it got nicked by my leg passing over the rear wheel. it broke instantly where the angle adjuster is. I was astounded at how thin the molded plastic was there and throughout to be honest. not worth your money or your time if you ride your bike much or ride it hard. if your a very rare commuter or a once in awhile rider, it might work for you, but I think a lot of people will be disappointed in how flimsy this is. I returned it the same day I bought it.
Much drier commute
Bought all the waterproof clothing for my 15 mile one way commute. I decided the unattractive wet dirt patch on my pants could be improved - after several rides (attached to my SSCX) my pants are dingy yellow not black. It keeps the water and road debris from saturating my Chrome bag - have ridden in the sleet, snow, and rain - easy to install stays in place - great fender for on and off road
Broke on third ride
Mine broke at the neck where the fender meets the part that holds onto the seat post. I didn't have a crash but I did hit the fender with my foot as I was mounting my bike. Seems like that shouldn't have caused a crack.
Hated this thing
Absurdly long, easy to catch your leg or other things on it so mine cracked at the base. The strap system is stupid. Difficult to get the hinge in place and the fender is too heavy for the strap/hinge so it did not stay where I wanted it.
Very Nice Rear Fender for Wide Tires
I have this SKS Fender on a gravel bike with 700x50mm tires. Installation was easy. I have ridden the bike about 200 miles and experienced one substantial and one light rainfall. No backside splashing and the fender has no problem with rough tarmac roads. I expect it to continue to perform well in the future.
No more stripes
Lightweight and sturdy. Adjusts quickly and seems well built. Not too many rides in it in sloppy conditions. But seems to be just what I needed.
Adjustable
Easy on/off, blocks snow really well. Would think it will work in the mud too. If you have a full suspension bike, be sure it is not rubbing on the rear tire with your weight on the bike. Easy enough to adjust up or down.
