great until it wasn't
These cots were great for yard camping and camping where it could be set up from a vehicle--until they weren't. After less than a year of occasional use, one night there was a slightly noise and the cot seemed to be sinking; then the extreme discomfort of one's back supported only by the mid-bar! The lashes holding the cot to the frame are much Stringer than the cot! So disappointing: The plastic separated all the way around revealing the poly foam just like the cheapest seat cushion! So disappointed in REI with this product!
Product needs improvement...
This product was the most comfortable cot I had ever used. However, the stress bearing components that were used to construct the flexible joints with the multi-position twist knobs are made of plastic. They broke on my cot the 3rd time it was laid out for use and will not allow the center cot legs to touch the ground. Ultimately, the cot will not lay flat anymore, or fold properly. Hopefully, this is a known design weakness that will be addressed.
Awesome night sleep
Cots are awesome! Inflatable mattress has been recycled! I know a few peole have complained that they are heavy and hard to use. They are meant for car camping or similar. Typically after a weekend campout my boys would be tired and asleep in the car before I got to the highway. We slept so well in our last campout, they were up on time and alert for Scout events. I have 3 and will be buying 2 more for general use and emergency. From my point of view awesome value for the money. They are too big and heavy and bulky for backpacking. I used mine for several weeks while doing construction repairs.
Best cot on the market!
This cot is amazing! It's got suspension so long term use it is always comfortable, it's not noisy like most and it's easy to setup and use! I sleep on cots for months while on wildfires, and this is by far my best investment!
Have slept on this every day for a year and a half
My use case is probably very different than most. Due to life circumstances at the time, I purchased this to use as a bed in my apartment. Only planned to use it for a few months but here I am a year and a half later. It's practical. Side and stomach sleeper. I've found it to be pretty comfortable. I'm surprised that the shock cord has not stretched to the point of making this unusable for this long. Considering going back to living full time on a sailboat or RV so I'm avoiding purchasing an actual bed. By the way, sleeping on this full time will also help you stay single, saving you even more money to spend at REI!!!
Full Time Bed Replacement
Like a review from another user (Sailing Ken) I have slept on the Kingdom cot for over a year and a half as my only bed. At first, I had difficulty rising out of bed, because I’m slightly obese. But after two weeks it was easy. I just needed to strengthen those muscles. The cot has not sagged or warped in anyway. It does collect dirt because it’s a big bowl, but the fabric is easy to clean. I sleep like a baby. I have some existing back problems but my back doesn’t hurt with this bed. Only when I was away from home did my back go out. I highly recommend this product for any in transition or fear of transition in which a regular bed would not be an option.
Cumbersome, Comfortable, Conundrum
As I write this, I’m sitting up in the Kingdom Cot! Quickly, go to YouTube. Watch several of the videos on this cot. Decide weather you are able to take a folding piece of furniture with you on a camping trip! I have a T4 Gazelle Tent. Roomy, and I’m tired of a mat on the ground. The cot solved this issue. It is a comfortable cot!!! Now, remember, this is THE beast of cots! In fact I would wager anyone under the age of 14 would be unable to set this up alone. For my purposes, I’m going to like it because it suits my size and sleeping position. 6ft/220lbs almost fits like a glove! FINALLY, Why do you not provide a Kingdom Cot Video? Otherwise, a 5…
Great for back sleepers
This cot is really comfortable for a nap. However, if you like to sleep on your side or stomach, it is not the best option. All the padding makes it really only supportive if you sleep on your back. It's OK as a chair with the back raised, but not super sturdy that way. I'm 5'2" and 125 lbs. Thought I might just be too small for this cot. Maybe if I were bigger, I wouldn't sink into the padding. My husband, 6" 200 lbs, found it comfortable, but the lack of firm support made his back very sore the next day. This cot seems like such a great idea. It has just lost a little practicality in its' execution.
Bolts poke into the mattress
The Kingdom Cot is so very comfy and makes for a great night sleep. Obviously they are bulky, and my only real issues is the frame bolts poke into the mattress and tear it. I exchanged my first two cots and on the second set I installed some cap nuts, "acorn nut", to protect the mattress from the sharp bolts. The nuts are M6x1 thread and reasonable prices can be found online.
Good enough for the Living Room
Good enough for the campsite, good enough for the living room! Our 4 year old fell asleep on it in just about 10 minutes, 50 minutes faster than she takes to fall asleep on a regular bed.
