great units for drysuit boots
Regina
I scuba dive California in a drysuit, I have had some floods, very difficult to get the built in boots dry as you can’t pull them inside out. I bought this dryer for, it’s fantastic. I was worried it might be too warm, it’s not. And the fan power is very light. I check every 30 minutes, they are dry after 3 hours (normally takes 5days for them to dry). I got this travel unit so when I go out on liveaboards to Channel Islands I can have with me in case I have a flood. Be sure you buy the model that says DX. If it doesn’t, it’s an older unit.

Very Poor Boot Warmer
Ski Instructor Bob

Packaging says "Warm your boots on the drive out". It does a very poor job of warming boots via the DC car adapter ... even after a 45 minute drive. You can hardly notice any difference in ski boot warmth. In retrospect, this shouldn't be a surprise since the unit puts out only a total of 13 watts of power. I returned the product after two use attempts (tested it both in the car on DC power and in the house on AC power).

Great but watch the wires!!

I've used these for years and have been very pleased! Two points: 1) the wire connections are "weak". Where the wires enter the AC or DC charging unit, they are prone to come loose. (The black wire insulation separates from the rubber fitting exposing the red and black interior wires. Then the black and red insulation begins to crack.) They haven't failed yet but you should be careful not to over-flex them at those points. 2) they don't really put out much heat but that's a good thing if you have heat molded liners or boots because you don't want your boot to get too warm and loose it's shape. So 5 stars minus one for the electrical connections.

Perfect for travel 110/220v!

These are outstanding for international travel because not only can you use them for a car, they can accept 110v/220v for Europe (220v) with a simple adapter (and not a bulky power voltage converter. I took them to Switzerland and they worked using a simple €1 prong converter. Even though the place I stayed in had a boot warming rack, these were seriously essential for when I checked out of the hotel and would be storing my snowboard bag for a week at an airport. They fit super nicely in the REI small travel pod/Dopp kit along with a set of warm ballet slippers. They should work for Japan’s 100v electricity, too,

Warmed and softened my boots

Some bones in my foot were fused so there is no flex in part of my foot. This makes it impossible for me to put on my Solomon 100 Pro Max ski boots without first warming in a boot dryer at the repair or rental shop. This product works in my car during the drive to the slopes and saves me time. I'm so glad to have found this product.

Perfect for parking lot boot up

As a daily skier and mountain host, I've used this boot dryer for several years. It is simple and effective. I bought a second one for the car in this 20/21 year of covid. Having had to give up my locker and put on boots at my car, the ability to plug this into the 12-volt socket and have toasty boots when you get to the hill is sweet.

Takes too long to dry shoes

I have 2 different shoe dryers that heat up to dry shoes. If I compare those two with this dryer, I would say this one with just the fans and no heat takes too long to dry shoes. I do realize this is useful for traveling light but I think the "feet" size is too small (it fits perfectly on my 7y old shoes but it fits too loose inside the adult shoes). I also don't like the fact that does not have an on and off button (it's on if it's plugged in and to turn off you need to unplug). The instructions say do not use for drying gloves or socks but I am very tempeted to try that next.

Great for ski boots

I use these all the time to warm up my ski boots on the drive there and after I get home to dry the liners out. The built in car adaptor is a great feature and they've held up well even after being frozen multiple times in the car at below zero temps.

Dries and Warms

Dries out boots pretty quick with a little fan! Also great for plugging into the cigarette outlet in your car for heating boots up on your way up the mountain on a cold day.

Wish I had bought these a long time ago!

These work great! I recently went on a week long ski trip and every night I put these in my boots and my boots were nice and dry the next morning. So quiet that they can be on in your bedroom and you wont hear them.

Wow

I used this for my wetsuit booties and gloves. It gets them dry overnight. I’m on the east coast so I’m in 7 mm and 8 mm gear. I’m getting a second pair so I can do the booties and gloves at the same time. FYI, it is a low power draw so a battery unit can be used to power these if you are car camping
