Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great when you get one that works. This is the only manual pump that REI sells that works with aquaglide kayaks. The pressure gauge that comes with this is needed to properly inflate aquaglide kayaks. The first one I got had quite a bit of air blow past the plunger and into my face. So far the second one is fine. There is a small design flaw in the part that connects to the inflatable's valve. It locks tightly into the valve which is great. But the hose that connects into the locking collar comes off pretty easily. When it does the air comes out of the inflatable's chamber. When it's working it works great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from NO STARS FOR THIS PUMP I have had two of these pumps and neither worked. It turned out the piston (internal workings) was too loose and didn't fit the cylinder. If 2 didn't work, it must be a continual manufacturing error and Aquaglide should be contacted.

I'm trying to figure out how and when do you read the pressure guage. Do you read it as you push down on the handle? The needle went back to zero after every pump of the handle, and it is impossible to read as you're pushing down!

Asked by: mick
The gauge indicates the pressure throughout the inflation process. If the needle is dropping instead with every stroke, then the nozzle isn't engaged with the kayak valve or the seal is compromised on the pump. Please bring this product to your local REI store or call REI at 1-800-426-4840 for more assistance.
