Great alternative to a PAC

While this is a bit more complex and heavy than a PAC, I prefer it for the fact that the rope is dynamic and more easily adjusted. The fact that you can adjust your length without unclipping, or clip the second arm in to reposition the main one (thus never coming off your protection) is worth the extra weight and cost to me. I purchased this for use on my first multi-pitch climb, and it was great. Very easy to use and intuitive, but I could see it being a bit bulky if you've got a trad rack with you as well.

Safer than a PAS

Pros: a dedicated place for my HMS & rappel device adjustability means my personal tether is never slack dynamic rope means lower force if I suddenly weight my tether I do a lot of Top Rope Soloing, this is great for going in direct, aiding by pulling the tail, and then converting to ascend or lower. Cons: the girth hitch connection just takes up a ton of space, either on your hard points or as petzl recommends on your belay loop. heavier than a standard PAS. it's really challenging to give yourself slack, e.g. after setting up a rappel at a semi-hanging belay. Petzl really needs to add texture to the ends of the little ratchet, it's really challenging to loosen while it's loaded

The two arms get in the way

This is a great product, I love the adjustable arm, but the second fixed arm is always in the way. It’s a bad length for putting anywhere on my harness, and gets tangled with my cams and slings, and sometimes torques my gear loops it that’s where I attach it. I’d recommend getting the Petzl Connect Adjust — not the Dual — and using a sling for extended rappels.

Bulky, hard to adjust, but safe.

I wanted to love this device, but I'm just not there. I bought this for trad climbing in the Gunks and ADKs and can count on no hands how many times this has saved me time or energy where a PAS made out of a sling and extending my rap with a quickdraw didn't. The girth hitch to the belay loop takes up an awful lot of space. It is hard to adjust. When not rappelling the second arm just takes up an awkward amount of space and can never find a place on the belt that doesn't get in the way. It gets clogged in with my cams and draws and has tossed me off a wall once during a mock lead because I got jammed up on a tricky footing trying to dislodge it from a cam I wanted. Even when going to the local top rope crag it's cumbersome at the anchors. I like to clip in for security and the extra tail just annoys me at best, and causes issues of getting to my items on my harness at worse. All that said, it is a solid device. It feels sturdy, it's dynamic, and I have no doubts it would save me in a pinch. I just can't figure out a way to wear and use it that doesn't' get in the way of how I climb and carry gear. Maybe you'll have better luck than me.

Makes climbing a lot easier!

I got this for my daughter but got to use it on several climbs. I have a PAS but wanted to toss it after using the dual connect. Get to the top of a climb go in direct with the fixed end connect the adjustable end and pull to equalize. It literally takes a second. Set up a rappel easily without coming out of direct. I am buying one of these for me.
