Features

  • Windproof, waterproof, breathable, lightweight, durable and packable
  • Updated with lighter, more durable and PFAS-free GORE-TEX ePE with a recycled face, delivering complete waterproof, windproof and breathable protection
  • Design updates include large reflective branding for low-light visibility, added ventilation, updated cuff construction paired with a wrist-watch window and a packable pocket
  • This jacket is free of intentionally added PFAS; the ePE membrane technology is lighter and thinner, but just as strong and durable as materials used by Arc'teryx before
  • You may notice the face fabric "wetting out" slightly faster in products with ePE membranes, but this does not affect the waterproofing of the membrane itself

Amazing for tech purposes.

It is highly specialized for running in cooler, windy and wet weather. Streamlined w/o storage so your belt or vest fit nicely. Have used at 5°c to 10°c w/o any base layer, but things got sweaty and hot. Perfect for 5°C to -5°C in just a t-shirt as a base layer (depending on how hot you run;). -5°C to -10°C, layer accordingly (think or thicker base layer). Have also used this climbing on windy days, and for x-country skiing down to -8°C in wind. Still no rips from sharp limestone rocks in Canada, still no wear under the pits from rubbing. Super lightweight, packs easy. Breathes ok if you are not a heavy sweater, but above 5°C, you will be soaked. Great in light rain- never tried in heavy rain. While skiing, geat in light dry, snow, but not as great in heavy wet snowfall. Definitely an amazing tech purchase for running. Looks good around town as well, but doesn't really function as a fashion piece, since it is built for moving in, not standing still. Recommend purchasing if you need a light running coat for cooler 5° to cold -10° (when layered properly) weather.

Amazing For It's Intended Use (HARSH Weather)

A peak 4/5 jacket that'd be 5 stars if it was more breathable and cheaper. This isn't the jacket for you if you want to run during peak, humid summers and expect breathability – way too hot inside the jacket for that. On the contrary, it is amazing during cool fall showers. I recently wrapped up a 100k where it thunderstormed the entirety of the night, and hit temperatures of about 50 degrees Farrenheit. Using the jacket mostly in the summer, wasn't really a fan especially at the price point. But after my race, I completely changed my view on it. It is GREAT for extreme weather, I didn't feel any water get through (and I mean it was POURING) and my body temperature felt well regulated. Additionally, the holes around the wrists meant for peaking at your watch are pretty cool – thought they were ridiculous at first but certainly practical! The slim cut of the jacket is nice too if you're shorter like me. If you want breathability during hotter months (which is a hard ask if you want true rainproof ability), maybe just go for an Incendo or something not necessarily waterproof. If you are in extreme precipitation often where it isn't so hot, the Norvan is better suited.

Meh. Not worth the price.

I’ve been using this jacket for a few weeks now. Really lightweight and comfortable but the hood is way too big so it hangs over and covers your eyes. There is one adjustment but just pull the sides in so it doesn’t help that much. Not sure why Arc’teryx makes their hoods so big, but I find most of them unusable. I would have returned the jacket if I left the tags on, but didn’t notice this until after. Also would be nice if it had some pit zips for ventilation. It has a couple slits, but they don’t do anything. For the price it’s not worth it. It has a few things it needs changed for the next version.

Hello Mike, thank you for taking the time to share your experience with the Norvan Jacket. We’re glad to hear it’s been lightweight and comfortable for you, but we’re sorry the hood fit and ventilation didn’t meet your expectations. A hood that drops into your line of sight can definitely be a challenge, and we understand how important effective adjustments and airflow are for a running shell at this level. Your feedback on the hood sizing and the pit‑zip design is incredibly valuable, and we’ve shared it with our product team as they continue to refine future iterations. If you’d like support finding a model with a more streamlined hood or more robust ventilation, our team would be happy to help you explore options.

Mediocre

The main pull tab came off in a month, the wrist slits are incredibly annoying and unnecessary

Norvan shell

I genuinely love this jacket from a technical perspective- the best running jacket I’ve tried and I think it’s close to perfect. Unfortunately, the oversized reflective Arc’teryx logo on the arm completely ruins it for me, to the point I've returned mine for that reason. I just can't stomach looking like a walking billboard. I feel Arc’teryx is known for its understated design that lets the performance speak for itself. This level of branding feels so unnecessary and out of place for a serious technical running jacket. I think that removing the arm branding and returning to the jacket to a more subtle aesthetic would make it miles better. It would be my go-to trail shell immediately. Thanks for taking the time read this :)

Hello Oscar, thank you for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback on the Norvan Jacket. It’s great to hear that the technical performance resonated with you, and we understand how important a clean, understated aesthetic can be—especially for a piece designed for serious running and mountain use. The larger reflective logo on the arm is intended to enhance visibility in low‑light conditions, but we recognize that preferences around branding vary, and your perspective is valuable. Our design teams review guest feedback closely as we continue refining future iterations, and insights like yours help guide those conversations. We appreciate you sharing your experience and hope we can earn a spot in your kit again down the trail!

Too slender in the chest and shoulders.

A slender cut with no stretch. If you're built like the models it will fit fine, but I'm more muscular across my shoulders and chest, which didn't leave any room for movement even without a base layer. Next size up would likely be too long in the arms and trunk. It appears to be a quality product but I do agree with another reviewer's reluctance to wear the oversized logo as I don't want people across the street to know I'm wearing something expensive. I prefer the subtle designs of my other Arc'teryx jacket, especially when traveling.

Works as described

Wet weather finally returned to the Pacific Northwest giving the chance to use the Norvan Jacket as intended. It works as advertised. I like how lightweight it is. The waterproofing performed well and the breathability was decent. Im not a fan of the large logo on the sleeve but the reflectivity does have its upside. One nit has to do with the pocket.having on pocket on the back (think bike jersey) isn't a favorite. I'd rather have two normal side pockets. But overall I find the Norvan a good buy.

Dynasty Red - High Visibilty, but Stylish

Excellent jacket. Lightweight, packable (fits in a backpack easily). I like the red colour because it is stylish, but provides good visibility so it is easier for drivers and search and rescue to find you. A lot of other bright colours aren't so nice to look at. I hope Arcteryx continues making garments with Dynasty Red. I also like the reflective material on the sleeves. This helps when it is dark out. Other positives are it uses the new PFAS free Gore-Tex.

Simple and Effective

I love the Jacket and the design and its features. Overall its simplicity means that there is less to go wrong and being an "experienced" adult (old), that is something I appreciate. My one negative is the sizing... and there again that could be me! A large tee shirt is huge on me and a medium jacket is too small! I returned the medium for a large and it fits across the chest and back... however you could fit an extra one of me into the abdominal area! The reflective logos are large enough to be useful in that they definitely stand out. I find that a great safety feature as I run trails and I am usually on my own. As a long time Remote Safety specialist I can say with authority that it is so much easier to locate a missing or downed runner when they are "big and bright"! It is still new and i am looking forward to wearing this jacket on many miles of mountain and woodland trails.
